Just like the woman who raised her.
“You know who she is?” I asked Shady, just to hear him say it out loud.
“She work at Hartman Towers,” Oshon spoke up before Shady could.
I turned to look at him.
“That nigga might be book smart, but he a brewfurd ass nigga,” Oshon continued, the disgust in his voice loud and clear. “Thinking his money alone shake shit.”
Exactly what I’d already concluded weeks ago about Malcolm.
Shady, Melly, and Shawdee all nodded like they’d been saying the same thing to each other.
“Shorty a documented employee,” Oshon went on. “And they running hood scams on these hoes.”
“Hood scams?” I tilted my head. “Like what?”
“Malcolm like to throw these executive parties,” Oshon explained. “And that bitch, Kendra, she the one out here recruiting. She come around looking for hoes with they hands out. Pick the desperate ones. The thirsty ones.”
“Like Diddy parties?” Wani sat up, face curled like the shit tasted bad just saying it.
That got a few chuckles outta the room.
“Nah… man, I don’t know,” Shady smirked, shaking his head. “Ain’t none of ‘em underage or nothin’… but they easy. Accessible… and disposable.”
“And that’s what Malcolm likes,” Shawdee cut in. “Muhfuckas he can use… then get rid of.”
That shit twisted something low in my gut…
Had me thinking back on the whole reason this nigga came to me in the first place.
He thought I was easy to use.
And just as easy to get rid of.
Stupid muhfucka ain’t do his homework.
“We don’t know exactly what goes on at these parties,” Melly spoke up, pulling me out my thoughts. “We just link with his bitch and supply whoever she want.”
“So what all this got to do with us?” Wave asked, voicing what I know damn well everybody else in the room was thinking.
“It’s more so… all of us,” Melly said, glancing at Oshon. “Shon dug some shit up… Malcolm got files on all of us.”
“For what?” Lex growled, turning to Oshon now. “He ain’t got shit on me.”
“Nah, not like that,” Oshon clarified. “He keeps tabs on everybody connected to anybody he work with. Niggas in his orbit. Anybody that could turn into a liability.”
“Like on some cop shit?” Wave pieced it together.
“Yeah.” Oshon nodded. “He announcing his run for Attorney General next week.”
My jaw clenched so hard it hurt.
“Man… hell nah,” both Wani and Wave spat at the same time.
“Wait, wait, wait… hold up.” Lex dropped his hands from his chest, shaking his head. “I’m not understanding this shit… Why the fuck is this nigga watching us so close?”
“’Cause he came to me with a hit.”
