“What’s this?” I asked, curiosity sparking in my chest.

“Open it.” She bit her lip as I took the envelope, sliding my hand away from her belly for a brief moment. My fingers slipped inside, pulling out three sonogram images. Each one deepened my smile, my chest swelling tighter. And then—I got to the final one. A tiny pink bow sticker stood out vividly against the dark background.

My eyes snapped instantly to Zoe’s, wide with surprise, my heart racing.

Her eyes were already misty, her head nodding enthusiastically, lips trembling with joy. “Baby K is Khloe,” she sniffled, tears threatening to spill as I quickly reached around, cupping the back of her head and drawing her mouth back to mine.

She giggled into our kiss, soft and full of emotion.

“Khloe Janiece Caldwell,” she clarified gently as we came up for air.

“Janice?” I asked quietly, savoring the taste of her lip gloss lingering on my tongue.

“Yeah,” she nodded softly. “Shaniece and Jakari combined.”

My throat tightened. Zoe put my mama and my middle name together to give our daughter something meaningful. Something everlasting.

Pulling her close, I felt her smile stretch wider against my chest. For a moment, I just held her—letting it all soak in.

“I love you, Zoe,” I finally murmured, my voice thick with emotion. “And when I give you my son, you can name him after you,” I teased lightly.

“Kentrell,” she said without hesitation, eyes locked onto mine. “I’m naming him Kentrell. I wanna be the only woman in the world with two of you.”

Shit, she had me wide open with that one.

“I’ll give you three,” I responded immediately, watching her head tip back as she laughed brightly.

“Run it up!” Zoe joked, rubbing her fingers together like she was counting bills. “‘Cause I got me a nice lil’ sizable cushion to fall back on,” she added playfully, extending her hand out so we both could admire her rings again.

We laughed together, but after a moment, her smile faded just slightly, and her brows knitted as she glanced outside, confusion crossing her pretty face.

“The wedding hall is back that way,” she said suspiciously, pointing over her shoulder. “Kentrell—where are we going?”

I shrugged nonchalantly, giving her my best mischievous grin. Zoe melted right there in my lap, her eyes sparkling.

“I thought maybe we could disappear for the weekend.”
