“Called who?” she asked, brow furrowed like I lost my mind.
“I let Rachel know you’re coming with me today—to assess a few of my properties.”
Her mouth dropped. “Wait…youcalled Rachel?”
“Mmhm.”
She stared at me, then looked at her phone, like it would confirm what I said.
It didn’t.
But I did.
“Used your voice, too,” I added with a lazy smirk. “Sounded just like you. Said you had a last-minute client meeting and would be out the office most of the day.”
She blinked again. “Kentrell…”
“What?” I shrugged. “I ain’t say nothin’ crazy. Just that you needed today.”
She stared at me, slack-jawed, then slowly shook her head, trying to hold onto a little attitude.
But it was slipping.
Fast.
And I could see her biting back a smile.
“You’re impossible.”
“Maybe. But I’m also useful. You coming with me today or not?”
“You want me to come with you?” she asked, still clutching the sheet like it was armor.
“That’s what I said, ain’t it?”
“Don’t get smart—I’m just asking.”
“Why?”
“Because… I don’t know.” She lifted her shoulders in a shrug, eyes darting around the room.
I reached up and yanked the sheet down from her chest.
She gasped, cheeks flushing pink as she grabbed at the edges.
“Stop hiding,” I growled, locking eyes with her. “I done licked all over that body. It’sminenow.”
Her eyes flickered from my face… to my chest… then lower.
She tilted her chin, trying to hold on to a shred of control. “Well, you’rehiding from me.”
She pointed at the sheet tangled around my waist and down my left leg.
Without saying a word, I ripped it away.
Her eyes widened.
Hazel and helpless.
