More flashes of cameras, more hollers of my name to gain my attention. It’s all overwhelming. I have no clue how the actual celebrities of the world do this for a living. It doesn’t help that I’m completely distracted, wondering what is going to happen with Kenndirx and wanting to be around her every chance I get. Even the short amount of time I’ve been on this carpet is just too long. The publicist steps forward and leads me to the next stop. I pose for some more pictures before the leading male actor that I was the stunt double for steps up next to me. “Jaxx, good to see you, mate.”
Chester Alms is an Australian sensation. He’s down to earth though considering the amount of love he gets from the public. We become pretty good friends while on the set together. Chester is known for living a rather normal life. He hops between Australia and the United States, both places he owns an apartment and in his down time he enjoys fishing and surfing. I’ve never seen him turn down a moment with a fan and that’s why he’s so loved. “Chester, it’s great to see you again. How have things been?”
“Exhausting. I just arrived this morning from England. What about you? Where’s that hot Brazilian little thing you have?”
I shake my head and I’m thankful that Kenndrix didn’t have to hear that. Her mindset is much better than it used to be, but I doubt that would make her feel well. “That’s not really a thing. I have an amazing woman inside waiting for me.”
“She didn’t want to eat up her fifteen minutes of fame?” He raises his eyebrows in surprise. That’s the thing about Chester and most of the Hollywood elite. They have become accustomed to the outside world only wanting them for one thing…fifteen minutes of fame. A brief moment of being on the arm of someone famous so that they can be pictured in a magazine or newspaper. Celebrities have become jaded, because they aren’t sure who wants to be them because they care about them or because of what they can offer.
I shake my head. “No, she’s not that type of person.”
“Better keep that one then.”
“I’m trying,” I tell him. Another twist of my gut reminding me that she only promised to give me this weekend and the time is dwindling down by the minute.
Chester and I pose for pics and soon enough the rest of the cast that is in attendance on the red carpet along with the director. Finally, almost an hour later, but feels like the entire night we head inside to actually watch the movie. As soon as I get through the entrance doors, I head straight for Kenndrix, but the table is empty. My heart sinks. She left. I knew it was all too good to be true. Things are never easy when it comes to the two of us.
A pair of arms wrap around my waist from behind. “There you are. I tried to hold my bladder, but it was screaming from all the water I drank trying to calm my nerves. By the way water doesn’t help that. Now I just feel like a whale in the ocean.”
I laugh and pull Kenndrix around to face me. “I’m sorry that took so long.”
She shrugs. “It’s okay. I expected it. This isn’t my first red carpet or premiere event you know? I do own a pretty successful production company that deals with this sort of thing all the time.” I chuckle in reply. She raises her hand, a fingertip coming between my eyebrows, trying to soothe the wrinkle of worry that has formed there. “Why do you look so worried?”
“When I came in, I didn’t see you. I thought you left.”
Kenndrix puts her hands on either side of my face. “I’m not going anywhere.”
I nod and take her hand, leading us back to the table. I pull out her chair and we take a seat. Her words are meant to make me feel better, but that nagging reminder in the back of my head is still there telling me this is all just for the weekend.
After the movie is done, we head out the back door and hop into the town car. Kenndrix tries to move to her side, but I quickly pull her back towards me. She giggles as my hand moves her hair out of the way, my fingertips lightly grazing the sensitive skin of her neck. My other hand lands on her thigh, mermaid thighs as she always called them. I never understood the trend of ‘thigh gap’. I squeeze her thigh and watch as she squirms. “Jaxx…” she says with a sigh. My lips find the pulse on her neck. It’s always the spot that drives her crazy. “The night isn’t done yet,” she tells me quietly.
“It can be if we want it to be.” I stare into those jade eyes.
She smirks and shakes her head. “How long until we reach the after party?”
“At least forty-five minutes,” I tell her.
Kenndrix blushes but wraps her hands around my neck and pulls my mouth to hers. I gasp in surprise, her tongue dances with mine the instant she has access. The kiss is a starving kiss. My hands go to her hips where I grip them tightly trying to gain some kind of control, but Kenndrix isn’t about to let that happen. She scoots closer and moves her leg, so that her knees are on either side of my waist. Her dress rides up her thighs. I smirk because this is what I’ve been trying to get all night. “Oh, that’s not happening. I’m not the kind of girl you have sex with in the backseat of a car, let’s get real.” I pout but she leans forward and gives me a quick kiss. “I am, however, the kind of girl you can make out with in the backseat of a car.”
I smile. “I feel like I’m sixteen all over again.”
“Sometimes, I wish we were,” she admits.
“No, I didn’t have you then. My life hadn’t begun at sixteen.”
Kenndrix’s brows pull together in confusion. “What do you mean?”
“My life didn’t begin until I had you,” I tell her.
She studies me before leaning in and placing the sweetest kiss on my lips. “You’re one of a kind, Jaxx Scott.”
“So are you, Kenndrix Golden.” My hands roam her body and watch that previous fire reignite. “Since I’m one of a kind, does that mean I’m an exception to your backseat rule.”
Kenndrix laughs out loud. “Not a chance, Romeo.”
