"Well, lucky for you I think I have a pretty good idea of where to start." She looked up with a grin, and I swear my heart stopped. This girl already had me wrapped around her finger and she had absolutely no clue.
Chapter 17
Isla
The late hours staying up trying to piece together the details of Jonathan's affair had paid off. Sully, the actual head of security, perked up when he saw the papers in my hands. I brought them over to him then explained the timeline I had mapped out.
"So here are the dates of the credit card charges, I then went back and checked my text messages those days - so here October 12th is a charge. On that day he texted me at 8pm that he was still at dinner and would stay at the hotel rather than coming home that night. I thought we could look at cameras near the restaurant and try to track them from there? I have other dates and some other times but that one is the closest I could get for an exact time and location."
When I finished laying out all my notes I looked up and found three men looking at me with varying expressions. All of them were tinged with anger, especially when the amount of visits was clear from my list.
Sully looked impressed with my notes though and that made me puff up with pride but Wes and Myles just looked furious. I sighed. I knew having Wes involved was going to be an issue.
"Wes, maybe you should go get a drink with Myles? I can stay with Sully to try and find footage? You shouldn't... Wes, you don't need to be here for this part. You've done enough." I said as I went over and gave his arm a squeeze.
Myles looked between us curiously and I realized he probably didn't know Alyssa was involved. Shame rushed through me hot and fast. Even though I knew none of this was my fault, I felt like an embarrassment to my family. I brought Jonathan into our lives, and I'd forever hold that responsibility.
"No Isla, I'm here for you. I'm by your side for all of this now drop it." Wes replied, his tone making it clear there was no budging.
"Okay then, let's get started?" I asked, looking between the three men. They nodded and I went back over to my purse, pulling out pictures. I brought them over to Sully and put them down.
"The blonde man here is my husband Jonathan, he is who we are looking for. The woman he is having an affair with is the brunette." I said pointing them both out in the picture I had brought over.
"Alyssa? Your husband is having an affair with Wes's sister?" Myles barked out. I felt my shoulders curl in.
"You know Alyssa?" I asked meekly. Great, even more people close to the family were getting involved.
"Barely, we met a few times when she visited Wes in college. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said it like that, I was just surprised. Sully, are you able to use this to help?"
"Oh absolutely, boss man. Feels like I'm back on a PI job except Blondie over here already did most of the work. I'm going back to October now, just give me a few minutes." He muttered as he clicked away, opening and closing files at a rate my eyes couldn't track.
Myles
My heart stuttered in my chest when I realized the depth of betrayal this poor girl had gone through. Even worse, I could see the pain in my buddy's eyes as he did his best to support his cousin, at the cost of his sister. I wouldn't say I was surprised, really. If anyone had told me Alyssa had split up a marriage, that wouldn't have been a shock, but your own family? I couldn't fathom it.
I thought of my brother Caleb and his wife Emily. Besides the fact that I would never do anything to hurt my brother, I couldn't stop the shiver of revulsion that went down my spine at the idea of anything sexual with Em, she was like a sister to me.
How this man could go there with Alyssa blew my mind. How Jonathan could even give someone like Alyssa a second glance when he had Isla waiting at home for him was beyond me. He sounded like a grade A asshole and if I ever got the opportunity to meet him I would enjoy landing some hits.
"There! I think that's them at that table in the corner, I recognize the tie he's wearing, I bought it for him." Her voice tapered off as we all gathered around Sully's chair to watch the monitors.
He had three different views up, inside the restaurant, the hallway between the restaurant and the hotel and then the elevator banks in the lobby. We were able to track them from dinner and into the main hotel area. There were some small touches and flirty body language but nothing obvious, nothing she could use.
We watched as the clock on the recording hit 8pm. They were just inside the lobby, Alyssa whispered something in Jonathan's ear then sauntered over to the check in counter while Jonathan took out his phone, presumably to text Isla before they reunited by the elevators.
Still not touching the two headed towards the elevators. A cold sweat broke out, did we know what room they were in? How would we find them? Wait! I fucking own the hotel! Whipping out my cell phone I called my front desk manager.
"Hey Sarah, I need you to do me a favor. I need a room or floor number for a couple who stayed here on October 12th. The room would be under the name Alyssa Chambers or Jonathan…" I paused and moved the phone away from my mouth as both Isla and Wes supplied the last nameConnerfor me,
“Alyssa Chambers or Jonathan Conner. They checked in around 8pm that night. Thanks, I'll wait." I heard the clicking of keys and turned to pace slightly. Then Sarah's voice was back in my ear.
"I have Alyssa Conner staying in room 1712 that night." She replied. I clenched my jaw, a fresh wave of anger at Alyssa using Isla's married name.
"Thanks Sarah. Can you do me a favor? Can you see if we have any other bookings for her and what rooms she stayed in?"
"Of course Bossman. I'll get that to you shortly."
"Thanks Sarah, appreciate your help." I hung up and turned back to the three waiting faces.
