Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck!
The asshole jerks upright from the armchair, looks over when she walk in.
His lips move but his body doesn’t.
I watch him track her when she walks into the kitchen, bumps into the sink edge, then stares blankly out the window. He’s not making any move to help her or guide her back to her room as I’ve seen her roommate usually do.
In fact…
I jerk upright, a growl building at the back of my throat.
Oh. Fucking. Hell. No.
Icy rage surges into my veins as the asshole licks his lips, his hand moving to his crotch. He darts his eyes around the room the way a guilty person does when they’re about to do something bad. Inadvisable.Nastyeven.
Or maybe he senses eyes -my eyes- on him.
I silently will him not to do whatever he’s thinking. Ella likes him, but I’ll happy cut him into tiny pieces and bury him allover the state if he so much as twitches the wrong way in her direction.
The growl builds into roar that starts in my ear when I watch him rise and slowly make his way towards her. A few feet away he pauses, waves his hand in front of her face.
She doesn’t react, so he takes another step closer.
Even from my position, I can see he’s hard. I lunge forward then freeze when headlights sweep in my direction.
Fuck. The neighbors.
I melt back into the shadows and watch, sliding fast and hard into insanity.
His eyes rush over her with sick greed I want to slice clean off his face with my hunting knife.
Still watching him, I calmly dig my phone out of my pocket.
Ella’s phone number is first in my speed dial, but a close second and third are her roommate and this asshole. I hoped I’d never need to contact them because that would mean Ella was in trouble and for some unthinkable reason, I couldn’t reach her.
I’m still not ruling out breaking in and snapping every bone in his body but the way he’s gearing up, the fucker is about to touch what’s mine.
He takes one more step and leans in close to sniff her neck and sound bursts from my lips as I hit the number on my phone.
He jerks back, shady and guilt as fuck when his cell rings.
Ella flinches but stays in sleepwalking mode, still staring out the window.
I raise the phone to my ear just as the asshole frowns at his screen, then answers. “Who is this?” he whispers, traces of annoyance in his voice.
“Listen very carefully. I’m the guy who’s going to fuck you up beyond all recognition if you don’t back the hell away from her right fucking now.”
His head whips around, then trains on the window. “What? Who the fuck is this? And how did you…” He stops, clears his throat. “And I don’t know what you’re talking?—”
“You have two seconds, asswipe. One.”
He springs back, his eyes flickering over Ella’s face before darting back to the window. I see his nervous swallow from clear across the street.
“Good. You might just live to see daylight. Now here’s what you’re going to do. You’re going to lead her back to her room.Without touching her. That little bit is the difference between your life and death. Do. You. Understand?”
“Y-yeah. Sure.”
“Use the wrist lead. And believe me, I’ll know if you touch her. And if you take longer then ten seconds you and me are going to have a problem. Understood?”
