“Nerve endings have all been fried…” Cash adds.
It throws a wrench in the works for the club if Bishop can’t ever walk again.
But he’s still alive. That’s all that counts.
Grizzly pulls out a chair, sitting down opposite us. “There was an infestation of cops at the Reaper Sons clubhouse earlier today. I was out on the road when I heard the sirens, so I followed, watching from a distance. There must’ve been about a dozen cars, each seat filled with a cop. They were handcuffing every member, driving them away to the station. Apparently Jax was torturing people, some for no particular reason other than the fact he didn’t like them.”
Diesel flashes Grizzly a pointed look, making a point of reminding him that I’m here.
“Melissa,” Grizzly says cautiously. “You did a very brave thing yesterday.”
“It wasn’t brave,” I say. “It was instinctual. To protect them.”
He nods, understanding. “I’m sorry about everything, and I apologize on my members’ behalf too. You must know that we don’t let anybody into the club unless they prove themselves first and earn our loyalty. You have done just that.”
I rise in my seat, unsure what to make of the comment. Is that it, I’m part of the clubhouse?
“If you want to be part of us, you will need to sign a few things—nothing major. It’s just for you to confirm in writing that you won’t pass on any information to outsiders. Everything must remain inside of the club, which I’m sure you’ll do just fine for the sake of your three lovers.”
Lovers?I gulp. It’s a word none of us have even said yet.
“What about my studies? My work at the library?”
“That can all continue, but you just can’t spread any information.”
I nod. “Okay.”
“So, you’re in?”
The bikers lean forward, anticipating my response.
“Yeah.” A small chuckle escapes my lips. “I want in.”
It’s smiles all around.
This is what I want. Bishop, Diesel, and Cashare what I want, more than anything.
A baby is all I want.
And I want all three of them to father it.
“Welcome to Venom Vultures,” Grizzly says, hopping up and disappearing.
When we’re alone again, Diesel turns to me, remembering a piece of information. “Is it true? You’re actually pregnant?”
My stomach twists. This isn’t how I wanted them to find out. I wanted to surprise them, see their genuine reaction.
I flick my eyes between all three of them, hesitantly nodding.
“Oh my god, Melissa.” Cash brings me into a hug, Diesel placing a hand at my shoulder. Bishop, unable to move, gives me a smile, a genuine one.
“Do you know which one of us is the father?” Cash asks.
“All of you,” I reply, hand going to my stomach. “I want all of you to be involved in this baby’s life.”
Is that a tear in Diesel’s eye?
The door flies open again, more members filing in. It would appear that some of the clubhouse whores have returned from hiding now that the threat of Reaper Sons is no more.
