“No. I’m still single and happy to stay that way.” I pushed away the annoying thought of Thomas when it came to me. We weren’t in a relationship. I didn’t have to be guilty for announcing I was single. I was single and so was he.
Scott slumped with a smirk. “Then there’s still hope.”
I rolled my eyes and handed him a glass of whiskey. “Please don’t pretend you’re saving yourself for me.”
He grinned. “I won’t. I had a lovely piece of ass yesterday morning. He was a little ginger I met while getting coffee, if you can believe it.” He sighed. “Fuck, he was eager. It was nice. We did it in the bathroom. I hadn’t done that since I was a teenager.”
“You had sex in the bathroom of a coffeehouse?”
“Hey, he wanted to. I wasn’t about to say no.”
“I’m not judging you. You’re a big boy.”
His dark gaze was alert. “I kind of hoped you’d be jealous.”
I hesitated. “I’m not the jealous type.”
“Is that right?”
“Nope. You have to feel possessive to be jealous.”
“Hmmm.” He nodded. “You don’t ever feel possessive about the guys you sleep with?”
My face warmed because I’d definitely felt possessive of Thomas, when I’d thought he’d been sleeping with his pal Aiden. “I try not to be like that. I’m not looking for a relationship, so what right do I have to be selfish?”
“I can be possessive, but not want commitment.”
“Really?”
“Sure. I like to have lots of toys, but I don’t want anyone else playing with my toys.”
“I can see that about you. You want your freedom, but don’t want the other guys to have any.”
He grinned. “Bingo.”
I laughed and shook my head. “Don’t know many guys who’d be cool with that.”
“Probably why I’m single.”
“Probably.”
He sipped his beverage, watching me over the rim of the glass. Once he’d swallowed, he said, “So, am I invited to this anniversary party?”
“Of course. All of my customers are.”
“Boo. I want to be special.”
I laughed. “You’re really a lot like a child, you know that?”
He grinned. “Yes. I’m like a horny child. I want sex and all the attention anyone will give me.”
“Well, I’d be honored if you showed up to my anniversary party. It won’t be very fancy.”
“Where are you having it?”
“Here.”
He frowned. “Really? You’re not renting a restaurant?”
