The next morning, I was having coffee on my porch when I saw the overnight group return. My heart skipped a beat as I watched Rex dismount and assist Seth and Ronny with the guests. It took about half an hour before Rex could finally make his way home.
I greeted him at the top of the cabin stairs with a kiss and cup of fresh brewed coffee. He looked tired, but happy to see me and the java. We sat in the grapevine chairs on the porch, and I couldn’t deny the sense of peace that descended over me at his return.
“How was it?” I asked.
He rested his head against the back of the chair. “It was a little tense, to be honest. Two of the couples don’t like each other and that ruined the mood for everyone.”
“Damn.” I frowned. “Did they actually fight with each other?”
“They bickered a bit, and it might have escalated if the boys and I hadn’t done our darndest to keep them occupied.” He sipped his coffee.
“I’m sorry you had a crappy trip.”
“It happens. But let’s not talk about that.” He set his coffee on the ground, and patted his thigh. “Come sit on my lap. I missed you.”
Laughing, I stood. “I missed you too.” I settled on his lap, winding my arms around his neck. His full mouth was temptingly close, so I leaned in and kissed him. He tasted of coffee and mint, and his familiar alpha scent filled my nose, soothing me.
One of his hands rested lightly on my ass, and the other cupped the back of my head. The kiss deepened, and when he slipped his tongue into my mouth, I moaned and wiggled closer. I felt his growing erection beneath me, and I my own dick was pressing painfully against my zipper.
“Maybe we should take this inside,” he murmured against my mouth. “I need more than just kisses.”
“Yeah?” I whispered teasingly. “You wanna fuck me, Rex?”
“I’mgonnafuck you,” he rumbled.
“Then we definitely need to take this inside.” Excitement fluttered through my gut as I slid off his lap.
Once inside, we undressed quickly, eyes never leaving one another. I was a little self-conscious that my stomach wasn’t as flat as usual, but judging by his hungry gaze, he had no issues with how I looked naked.
I was standing with the back of my thighs against the bed, and when he moved closer, I took hold of his broad shoulders. With a grin, I pulled him down with me, and he landed half on me, one of his legs across my thigh.
He chuckled. “I guess you really did miss me.”
“I sure did,” I mumbled, covering his plump mouth with mine. He groaned and his lips opened immediately, our eager tongues tangling ravenously. I’d never tasted anything sweeter than Rex, and I cupped his face and deepened the kiss.
Lips still joined, he ran his hands over my naked flesh and grazed my nipples with his calloused fingers. He broke the kiss, and we stared into each other’s eyes. “I couldn’t stop thinking about you,” he murmured.
“I wanted you here with me so much last night.” I stroked his stubbled cheek. “It’s scary how much I missed you, Rex.”
He hesitated. “I get scared sometimes too.”
“Do you?”
He nodded, his eyes bright. “I’ve never felt this way about anyone. It’s like you’re a part ofme, Tanner. When you’re not near me, everything just feels dull. What would happen if you went away?”
My heart ached at the fear in his voice. “I’m not going anywhere.”
He wrinkled his brow. “Promise?”
I hadn’t intended to tell him I loved him right then, but the moment felt so perfect I decided it was okay. “I promise with all my heart. I love you, Rex. I’m not leaving your side unless you tell me to.”
“You love me?” At my nod, his smile was like the sun breaking through cold gray clouds. He closed his eyes for a second and then opened them again. “I love you too, Tanner. I’d be lost without you.”
“Yeah?” My smile matched his. It was a relief to finally say how I felt, and hear how he felt too. “Took us long enough to say it, huh?”
He laughed gruffly. “I wanted to tell you about a hundred times. I just didn’t want to freak you out if you weren’t feeling the same way about me.”
“I definitely am.”
