I’ve seen Cassi around town in the short time I’ve been here, and all of her interactions have been bad. From the young girl at the grocery store who accidentally bagged her groceries wrong to the mail clerk at the post office who had the nerve to say it was her responsibility to forward her mail, not his. He even gave her the forms to fill out, only to watch her rip them up in front of him.

What could Brooks possibly see in someone like that?

With a sigh, I think about Cassi’s long bleached blonde hair, skinny body, big boobs, and mile-long fake eyelashes. I never thought Brooks was such a shallow person to fall for someone like that.

“Uncle Brooks, what are you doing here? I thought you ditched me for that mean lady.” Molly may act like a tough little girl, but in reality, she’s a scared little girl afraid of losing more people she loves. I can see it in her eyes as she waits for Brooks to reply.

“A mean witch must have cast a spell on me to make me go out with her.” Molly giggles as Brooks lightens the mood by calling Cassi a mean witch, and I can’t bring myself to care that I just tried to teach Molly to be kind to everyone because not everyone deserves her kindness.

“How did you break free from the magical spell?” Molly shifts the baby goat off her lap and onto the hay, still holding its bottle firmly in its mouth.

“My trusty sidekick used her powers to summon the all-powerful unicorn lady to vanquish the witch’s evil spell.” Brooks’s gaze falls on mine, causing my heart to flutter.

This is the most I’ve ever heard him speak, and it's wrecking havoc on my body and mind.

Molly’s giggles fill the air at the petting zoo, causing the other animals to stop what they are doing and look at her. If anyone has magical powers, it’s Molly. Maybe she can help Iclyn with her foster kittens. “Now you and the unicorn lady will live happily ever after.”

“Slow down, Junie. Don’t get ahead of yourself. Brooks never said he liked the unicorn lady, only that she saved him from the witch.”

“So, is there a happily ever after to your fairytale?” I ask, petting my own goat who’s fast asleep on my lap.

With a sexy smile that warms both my heart and my lady parts, Brooks finishes his story. “Once the unicorn lady breaks the spell, the prince realizes she’s the one he wants to spend the rest of his life with.”

“Prince? Really.” I try to keep a straight face but fail miserably. Thank goodness for Molly and her innocent childlike view of the world.

“But you forgot one thing, Uncle Brooks.”

“What’s that, Molly?” Brooks glances away from me for a split second before returning his gaze to me.

“Love’s first true kiss. You have to kiss the unicorn lady for saving you.”

Shock doesn’t even begin to describe how I’m feeling about Molly’s insistence on sealing the fairytale with a kiss.

“We don’t have to.” I search Brooks’s eyes for any sign he wants to kiss me when I see the hot lust flickering in them.

“It’s the only way to make sure the evil witch doesn’t sink her claws into me again, plus we need to make sure the spell is broken.” With that, Brooks reaches down, moves the sleeping goat off my lap, and places him on the hay beside me. “My lady.” Brooks extends his hand toward me.

Without hesitation, I reach for his hand. He lifts me to my feet as if I weigh nothing, making me feel like the princess in his fairytale. “We don’t have to do this if you don't want to,” I say, giving him an out if he doesn't want to go through with the kiss.

“That’s not an option, Junie. I’ve wanted to kiss you since the first time you smiled at me and handed me those unicorn cookies.”

He’s so funny and sweet, I can’t say no, even though I still have my doubts. “I wouldn’t want you to fall back under her dark magic.” I lower my gaze to his lips then back to his eyes.

He lowers his mouth to mine—his warm lips press against mine, leaving me breathless and craving more. He must sense my desire, as he pulls me closer and deepens the kiss by licking the seam of my mouth until I open for him.

Our tongues rub together, needing more contact as his arms wrap around my waist, tighter, and I can feel his desire pressedagainst my stomach. My panties dampen with a wave of lust at the thought of what’s hiding behind his jeans.

“Alright, that’s enough," a deep voice says from nearby. “There are children present. We can’t have you two dry humping in public.”

Brooks and I jump apart like a couple of horny teenagers who just got caught doing something wrong.

“Uncle Bale!” Molly shouts, setting the goat’s bottle on the hay and launching herself into the newcomer’s arms. “You’ll never guess what Junie and Uncle Brooks did.”

“I’m sure I won’t, but I have a pretty good idea of what they were about to do.” I blush at Bale’s innuendo as Brooks tucks me against his side and glares at his brother.

“Junie broke the evil witch’s spell, and now she and Uncle Brooks are in love and will live happily ever after.”

I wait for Brooks to correct Molly, but instead he pulls me closer against his body, as if he never wants to let me go.
