“Nothing really. Only they’re kind of psychotic,” Webber drawled.

My brows rose. “Psychotic?”

“Exuberant,” Copper said. “Which one does the kid belong to?”

“Who cares?” Webber threw his hands up. “Fuck my life.

“There’s nothing wrong with bikers, dude,” I said. “I happen to have a great one.”

Webber snorted. “If you say so.”

“Hey, I totally am.” Copper straightened his collar.

I got up and placed a kiss on my husband’s smiling lips. “Glad you can finally see it, honey.”

He winked, and swear to Christ, it still had the power to make my heart sing. “Hey, Webber.”

“Yeah?” Webber asked, sounding suspicious.

“You feel like babysitting for a few minutes?”

Webber sighed. “Jesus Christ.”

Copper stood up fast, bending down only long enough to throw me over his shoulder. “There are some cheese puffs in the cabinet. It’ll make him happy for a solid ten minutes.”

“That’s all you need, ol’ man?” Webber bent down to pick Holt up.

“I’m sure you know this, Webber. But when you’re a parent, you learn the art of fast fucking.”

Webber groaned. “You’re right.”

I waved goodbye to the man my husband called best friend, then lost sight of him when Copper turned the corner into our bedroom.

The house was perfect.

From start to finish, I’d picked out every paint color, pillow, molding style, corner round. You name it, I picked it.

But my most favorite room was our bedroom.

It was big, open, had floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall windows overlooking the lake, and it was where Copper and I had made our soon-to-be baby girl.

Not that Copper knew that yet.

I’d planned on telling him a hundred times in the last two weeks, but I’d settled for today.

Now.

That was really why Webber had walked in.

He couldn’t care less about Joey.

He hadn’t really had a care about who his daughter was dating.

He was here for one thing and one thing only, to watch Holt so I could give my husband this moment.

“Wait,” I said when he threw me on the bed and started to crawl over me. “One last thing before we get down to business.”

Impatience shone in his eyes. “But I have to get to work, Holt has a doctor’s appointment, and who knows what Webber has to do.”
