Right there next to me on the couch, she fed her boy, and I called her dad.
“What’s up?” Shad asked, sounding tired.
“Find a time and neutral place to meet up. Bring your wife only,” I replied. “Preferably sooner rather than later so Baker can’t overthink things.”
He chuckled. “You know her well.”
I did.
“What about Andy’s?” he asked. “They both love ice cream, and it’s a quick snack. We don’t have to stay long if we don’t want to.”
“Perfect,” I said. “When?”
“Now?”
I looked down at Holt, who was staring at me, drinking away.
“Gotta find a babysitter first,” I said, though I knew there were several club members that would take on the duty in a heartbeat if I offered it up to them.
“You could…”
“Not this time,” I disagreed before he could finish. “I think it just needs to be the two of them.”
He sighed. “You’re probably right.”
Shad hung up, letting me know he’d be at the Andy’s closest to my location in half an hour, giving me enough time to calm her nerves.
But first, I had to get the kiddo taken care of.
The perfect person to do the babysitting came through the door, and I grinned. “Milena.”
Milena smiled at us on the couch, then moved closer.
Milena was the perfect woman for my brother, Cutter. Cutter loved her to death, and the two were the perfect pair.
Her, the Mafia princess, and him, the retired military man in the one percenter motorcycle club.
“I was hoping to catch a few baby snuggles.” She peered down at Holt.
Holt popped off, a milky smile taking hold of his face as he spied his aunt.
Milk squirted everywhere, and Milena laughed.
“Oh, you’re already causing trouble,” Milena cooed.
Holt reached for her, because the kid went to anyone, but especially beautiful women.
“Can I take him?” Milena asked.
“Yep.” Baker covered herself up before relinquishing Holt.
“Can I take him out with me to the bar?” she asked. “Cutter and everyone are out there.”
“Of course,” I said. “Give us ten and we’ll be out there.”
Milena snorted. “I’m not coming back in here unless my life depends on it.”
She knew the Clayborne men well, that was for sure.
