He won’t be on the list. “Lily... er, Jenna. She’s my sister.”

Her mouth pinches and brows lift above thick-framed glasses. “Name?”

“Lucas Carson. I’m her brother.”

She scrolls down a list on her screen. “Sorry. I don’t see you on here.”

“She’s not expecting me. Tell her I’m here.” It’ll probably shock the hell out of her, but what else is he to do short of leaving and reaching out to her another day? He might never get the chance again.

The security guard snorts. “You and every nut who wants a selfie with her.”

The woman tucks the iPad under her arm. “Uh-huh. She’s busy.”

With growing irritation, Lucas scans the area behind the guard. He’s hot and hates crowds. The energy’s making him itch, and his bodywants to twitch like an addict. “Just get my fucking sister,” he snaps, his anxiety getting the better of him when he doesn’t see her anywhere back there.

The security guard gets in his face. “You need to leave.”

“Back off,” Lucas warns at the guard encroaching on his personal space. Then he sees Olivia. Relief washes over him. “Liv,” he shouts, and then again when she doesn’t hear him at first, “Livy!”

Olivia glances over her shoulder, searching.

“Livy,” he yells again, waving. He should have known his older sister would be here, too.

Olivia sees him, and her mouth falls open. “Lucas.” She rushes over, squeezing between the guard and the petite gatekeeper, and pulls Lucas into a hug. “Oh, my god. We’ve been looking for you. We’ve been so worried. Where’ve you been?”

“Around,” he says, hugging her back. Until this moment, he didn’t realize how much he’s missed her. It was wrong of him to leave her out of the blue like he did. But after the loss of Dwight, he didn’t want to kill himself and chance Olivia being the one to find him. He thought he was protecting her.

She leans back and cups his face, his shoulders. Looks him over from head to toe. “I’ve missed you.” Tears flood her eyes, and she punches him in the arm. Hard. “Fuck you for scaring me like that. You could have called. Why didn’t you text me back? I thought you... I thought you died.”

“I’m sorry.” His smile is strained as his chest caves in with regret. No, she didn’t. She thought he’d offed himself. He’d left so he wouldn’t hurt her and ended up doing so anyway.

“We need to talk.” She glares at him.

“Later, I promise.” They have a lot to discuss, a lot to catch up on. But he puts a pin in that conversation. He needs to take care of Shiloh first.

“Where’s Lily?” he asks. He’ll introduce them, then go.

“Backstage, getting ready. Can you believe this?” She throws out her arm to encompass their surroundings.

“Pretty outrageous.”

“I’m so proud of her. She’s amazing, truly incredible. You’re going to love her.” She grabs his hand. “Josh is here. He’ll be excited to see you.”

“And Lily?” he asks when she motions to the guard to let him pass.

She turns back to him, and her expression turns serious. “She’ll—” She stops, noticing Shiloh for the first time. “Who’s this?”

“She wants to meet Lily.”

“I’m Shiloh.”

“Hi,” Olivia says. A crease appears between her brows when she looks back at Lucas.

“Shiloh, this is my older sister, Olivia.”

“You’re Jenna’s sister, too?” Shiloh’s grin expands to epic proportion. “That’s sick. I’m such a big fan. I want to be an animator just like her.”

“Oh. That’s... nice.” Olivia splits her attention between him and Shiloh, cautiously curious. Lucas erratically taps his thigh. Olivia could ruin his plan in a heartbeat. He’s a screwup in her eyes. They weren’t on good terms when he left. The last time she saw him, he’d just returned from seeing their father. She was the closest to Dwight and had just learned he’d died in a car accident. Lucas didn’t confirm he’d hastened his death with a seat belt, but she suspected he was involved.
