He doesn’t just look scared. He looks terrified.

Dante and Rhiannon both nod at me and shift to the side, still standing close, but giving me the room I need.

Dante says, “His name is Jacob Demetrius. Thirty-three. From Kansas City. And he was hiding out with two AK47s as insurance, just in case someone escaped the game, like last time.”

I approach the man—fucking Jacob Demetrius—slowly. A low growl rumbles in my chest. His eyes go big, all the white showing around a muddy brown. He starts to shake.“You.”

“Yes,” I snarl. “You wouldn’t want someone escaping like last time, wouldyou?”

My body is quivering with rage. Never in my life have I wanted to kill someone more.

I could. My teammates would cover for me. Claim it was an accident. And this fucker would be gone for good.

But I can’t. Dammit, I know I can’t. We need him alive for questioning. Need to find out if he has any accomplices. Force him to tell us everything he knows.

“You’re going to talk,” I grit out, my voice vibrating with anger. “You’re going to tell us everything.”

“No.” He shakes his head. “You can’t make me.”

“Oh, no?” Advancing on him, I get right in his face. Close enough for him to see the promise of death in my eyes. “I found the pit. With the stakes. It would really be too bad if you fell in, wouldn’t it?”

His mouth drops. “You wouldn’t.”

“Oh, yes.I would.”

Rhi nods in agreement. “That sounds fitting. And just an unfortunate accident.”

“You’re going to tell us everything,” I repeat. “Everything. And when the FBI gets here, you’re going to tell them, too. And if you even think of keeping anything back, just know, we have connections in the prison system. One of the men you took? He’s with us. And he’s a bounty hunter who knows exactly who to talk to about making sure you don’t survive in prison. So?—”

I cock my arm back. “I’ll let you live. For now. But I will come for you if you try to hideanything.”

Pausing, I watch his gaze move to my clenched fist. “And. You hurt someone I care about. A lot. I might not kill you right now, but I am going to do this.”

Then I let my fist fly.

Not as hard as I could, because then I reallycouldkill him.

But hard enough to break his nose.

Hard enough to watch a waterfall of red gush from it.

Hard enough for his gaze to go unfocused.

For him to shriek in pain.

As I take a step back, I snarl, “You fucked with the wrong person. Andthatwas for Tate.”

CHAPTER 16

TATUM

I know he’s okay.

I’ve reminded myself of it at least a hundred times since we got the news yesterday.

The game is over. Everyone was rescued. The man behind it is in FBI custody. The Blade and Arrow team—and their friends—are safe.

Erikis safe.
