“It’s not something you need to try and do. You are going to do it because you need to.”

“I’ll see what I can do,” I sighed as I laid down. “Now, fill me in on your life. Tell me what I’ve missed.”

PYRITE

“Stubborn for no fucking reason.”I stood over Fable and watched her as she slept. Her ass was a heavy sleeper; every night when I came to check on her, she was asleep, curled up in a ball in the middle of the room. Shit was pissing me off, big time. The custom bedroom furniture I ordered was in, but I needed her out of the room for it to be brought in.

I looked around the room, shit was clean as fuck. Everything I’d given her was still in the bag, and she used the washer and dryer in the ensuite daily to ensure nothing was left dirty.

Bending down, I lifted her in my arms and walked her from my bedroom to the room I was using. I laid her in the bed and sat at the foot of it. Fable looked at peace, like she didn’t intentionally give me shit the moment she opened her eyes.

“Zane is here,” Amethyst said, standing in the room's door frame. “What do you want me to tell her?”

“Have her people move out everything, then set it up; if she doesn’t like it, then we will move it,” I said without taking my eyes off Fable.

“Nigga, who is we?” Amethyst questioned with a grunt. “That shit is big and heavy. I’m not moving anything.”

“Amethyst, get the fuck away from the door,” I replied, shaking my head. “Handle the move, and I got it from there.”

“Fine, but just know you’re feeding me after this,” he said, leaving the room.

I sat in the same spot for the next thirty minutes, watching Fable sleep. She was so fucking beautiful to me. There wasn’t anything that I didn’t find attractive, even her smart-ass mouth.

“Stop watching me sleep like a fucking stalker,” Fable mumbled without opening her eyes.

I chuckled softly, wiped my hand over my mouth, and then nodded. “You sleep good?” I asked as she rolled onto her back and stretched her body. She was dressed in fitted shorts, a tank top, and a bonnet on her head.

“My eyes itch,” she mentioned as she rubbed her eyes, and I nodded.

“Stay here.” I pushed off the bed, looked down at her one last time, and left the room. Like all the rooms, this room had locks on the doors set to my prints. I scanned my hand, left the room, closed the door, and waited for the locks to engage before moving.

“What’s good, sis?” I said, approaching Zane Berry, a close friend and the only person I trusted to create the perfect bedroom furniture. I threw my arm over her shoulder and dropped a quick kiss on the top of her head. Zane wrapped a single arm around my waist, but didn’t stop giving orders to her guys. When Fable told me she wanted new furniture, I knew that Zane was the only person I wanted to create it. She was a fourth-generation carpenter on her mama’s side. Unlike most carpenters, Zane’s history came from the women in her family. “Ay, this shit is nice.”

“I know,” she laughed and nodded. “And it should be since I’ve been working on it nonstop since you asked.”

I let her go and walked around the California king bed frame, admiring the small details that Zane had done. The maple wood bed frame matched the side tables, bench at the end of the bed, and dresser and armoire. The custom job cost me nearly thirty grand, but it was worth it.

“Are you going on vacation?” I asked her as I ran my hand over the tall canopy frame. Unlike most canopy beds, the bedpost didn’t make the regular box at the top; instead, the frame above the bed crossed, and an X was in the middle. I had plans for the unique design.

“No,” she answered with a small laugh. “Next on my list is a custom order for Fire and Lynx.”

“They know what they are having?” I asked, and she shook her head. “But you know?”

“I do,” she answered with a nod. “Their doctor emailed me the blood results yesterday. About two months before they find out, I want to be done with the cribs by then.”

“I have faith in your skills,” I said as I walked around the bed.

“Thanks,” she replied and crossed her arms. “Now, you care to tell me what you needed this set for? The last one wasn’t even six months old yet.”

“A request,” I answered with a chuckle.

“That you obeyed?”

“I had no other choice,” I answered honestly. “She said to do it, and so I did.”

“Smart man,” Zane said as she patted my arm. She looked around the room one last time before turning to me and smiling. “Let me know if and when you need my services again.”

“I got you,” I said, nodding.
