When we finally break away, the silence that has fallen over the room speaks volumes. The message is clear: Vapor’s off-limits.
“Damn,” he says, grinning,“that was one hell of a kiss.”
“Good,” I reply, smirking back at the club sluts who now look thoroughly defeated.“That’s exactly what I wanted.”
I tug his hand, drawing him toward the stairs that will take us up to his room. The moment the door closes behind us, I feel like I can finally breathe again. The loud party downstairs fades into the background as his strong arms wrap around me.
“All right, babe,” he says with a smirk,“what was that kiss in the living room all about?”
“I just wanted everyone to know that you’re off-limits,” I admit. I bite my lip, suddenly feeling shy.
His grin widens, and he pulls me closer.“I love it when you get possessive,” he murmurs before capturing my lips in a searing kiss. Our tongues slide together as we lose ourselves in each other’s embrace.
Slowly, he peels away my clothes, revealing my body to his hungry gaze. As he undresses me, I can’t help but think about how much has changed since we first met. No longer am I the girl who was afraid of her own shadow—I’ve found strength and courage by his side.
He lays me down on the bed, gazing at me with ravenous eyes. I reach for him, pulling him down until our bodies melt into one. Fused together, we make love in a slow, sensual dance. He’s tender and passionate, a testament to the deep connection we’ve forged during our time on the island.
Afterward, we lay entwined under the covers, our bodies slick with sweat and thoroughly sated. He strokes my hair gently, his blue eyes filled with warmth.
“Get some sleep,” he says softly.“Tomorrow, we’ll be leaving at first light to pick up the kid.”
“I can’t wait to go on my first run with you,” I murmur, my heart swelling at the thought of riding beside him. I snuggle closer to him, breathing in his intoxicating scent. No matter how many times we make love, I always want him again and again.
“Babe,” he starts, a hint of hesitation in his voice,“you can’t go on all the runs. Non-members don’t typically join, but I just don’t want to leave you alone. There’s no telling what your father would do if he knew you were here with me.”
“I wish he’d just leave me alone. Thank God I have you to keep me safe,” I whisper, touched by his concern for my well-being.
“You’re mine now. Eventually, he’ll understand,” Vapor says with a finality that gives me hope. For the first time in years, I’m starting to believe I won’t have to marry Broussard. Vapor would never let that happen now that we’re together.
I must have drifted off because the next thing I know, it’s morning. I stretch languidly, my body still humming from the passionate lovemaking we shared. He’s so big that I still get sore every time, but it’s worth it.
As I watch him sleep beside me, I can’t help but feel more confident about fitting into motorcycle club life. Last night, I showed the club girls that he’s mine. Today, he’s taking me on a run. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.
“Hey,” I whisper gently, nudging him awake.“We should probably get going soon, huh?”
He stirs, blinking sleepily at me before running a hand through his tousled hair. He grins as he sits up, pulling me close for a quick kiss.“You’re right. Let’s get ready.”
As we dress and gather our belongings, I find myself lost in thought, reflecting on the whirlwind journey that led me here, to this new world of leather jackets, roaring engines, and unwavering loyalty. There’s so much I still need to learn about club politics and how everything works, but I’m determined to figure it all out eventually.
“Hey,” he says, snapping me back to reality as he pulls on his boots.“You okay? You look deep in thought.”
I smile at him, nodding.“Just thinking about how much I’ve grown since meeting you and joining this life. I know there’s still a lot to learn, but I’m excited for it all.”
“Good,” he replies with a grin, slinging an arm around my shoulders.“Because you’re one hell of a woman, babe. I have no doubt you’ll thrive in this life. If nothing else, it’s going to be fun to see who you become now that you’re free.”
“Freedom,” I whisper, leaning into his embrace.“That means more to me than you could ever know.”
As we head downstairs, hand in hand, I feel a sense of belonging that had eluded me my entire life. No one has ever stood up for me before. But now that Vapor’s on my side, I have a whole club behind me. Maybe not the club girls, but they can’t protect me anyway. The guys can.
I’m counting on them to keep me safe. Going out into public again feels dangerous. My father could be watching the clubhouse, just waiting for me to appear. I hope we can get away safely, because the last thing I want is for anyone here to get hurt because of me.
Chapter 20: Blue
As we speed down the open road, the vibration of Vapor’s bike beneath me is both thrilling and frustrating. Being wrapped around his hot, hard body is exciting enough. Adding the bike’s rumbling oscillation only serves to inflame my desire.
In an attempt to quell my carnal desires, I glance over at Diablo riding alongside us in the cage. His usual menacing expression is softer than I’ve ever seen it. We’re on our way to pick up a kid who needs the MC’s help, so maybe that’s why his demeanor is so different. I know this mission is important to all the guys, but Diablo seems especially affected by it. I wish I knew more about him. Maybe I’d understand his sudden change in attitude if I did.
I think back to the conversations I’ve had with Vapor, the history he’s shared about this club and their mission. It’s equal parts terrifying and inspiring, knowing that there are people like them out there, fighting for justice in a world that seems to have forgotten it. There’s nothing more important in this world than protecting innocent children. I’m glad that’s the club’s mission because it’s a noble one.
