He had the glass wall closed and when I entered, I realized he had the air conditioning on warm. I glanced around. John’s villa was pretty much the same as mine. Different artworks on the wall but basically the same. He walked to me and kissed me. Mm—yum.
“You look stunning, good enough to eat.”
I smiled up at him and said, “Thank you.”
He took my hand and led me to the long settee. I settled on it, tucking my feet up.
“Would you like a drink? I’ve got a Chardonnay, a Gewürztraminer, and a Pinot Gris.”
“Gewürztraminer, thanks.”
John nodded and walked into the kitchen. I noticed an open novel on the coffee table and checked it out—The RiverAtNightby EricaFerencik. Interesting, I’d read a review on it recently and it sounded like the sort of book I’d enjoy. John came back and handed me my glass of wine as I put the book back, and then he sat alongside me.
“Good novel. I didn’t think I’d like it, but I’m finding it interesting.”
We talked about books we’d both enjoyed or ones we hated. We had similar tastes, although John did like non-fiction as well, whereas I was strictly a fiction girl.
“Tell me how you got into making wedding dresses.”
I shrugged. “I’d always been interested in sewing and making my own clothes. Then when I left school, I did a postgraduate degree in Fashion Design. I had the opportunity to work for a large bridal company and jumped at the chance. The rest sort of fell into place.”
“How long have you had your own business?”
“Heck, um… it will be twenty-five years at the end of this year.”
“Sounds like a very successful business.”
I was pleased at how interested he sounded. “It is, thank goodness. John, how did you hurt yourself? You said it was an accident.”
“Yes. Thankfully, I’m on the mend now. The doctors told me it would take a while to heal, especially my leg. Still, this beautiful place will certainly help.”
“It is lovely, isn’t it?”
“Certainly, and made even more so by meeting you.”
I blushed a little as I murmured my thanks. John had put his glass down and had his hand on my knee. He casually ran it up and down my thigh and my dress slid up. I took a mouthful of wine and put my glass down.
“You do know that at some point in our near future I intend to make love to you properly. I truly regret not being physically able to now, but I promise to make it up to you once I’m fit.”
Oh, be still my beating heart!
How on earth was I supposed to answer that? I stared up at him. His head got closer and closer until he brushed my lips with his. I could hear my blood pounding in my ears.
“In the meantime, my beautiful Ana, I’m sure I can satisfy you in other ways.”
“You can?”
My voice came out rather squeaky as he winked at me. One hand curled around my neck, his thumb caressing my bottom lip. It sent shockwaves through my body.
“I think we’ll dispense with my domineering ways until I can take you properly.”
Oh my goodness!
“We will?”
“Mm.”
He pushed his thumb between my lips and I let my tongue run around the tip. Then he pulled it out and ran it across my lips. His now moist fingers slid easily across. His eyes were on mine as his other hand teased at the bow of my dress. When he’d undone it, he slid one shoulder down my arm. My sexy white bra was now on show with the curve of my breasts kind of heaving as I tried to stop panting.
