“Pizza,” he announces, practically jumping up from the sofa.

I watch him for a moment, then move toward the kitchen and go in search of plates.

“The fuck?” he asks as he stands in front of me with two large boxes in his hands. I stand facing him, holding two dinner plates in my hands.

“What?” I ask.

“Plates? For pizza?”

Flicking my gaze to the plates, I slowly lift them up to meet his. My lips twitch into a smirk. “Yeah,” I whisper. “Plates for pizza.”

He gives me a smirk as he shakes his head from side to side, almost as if he’s humored by me. He begins to walk past me and into the small dining room before he murmurs a single word that almost brings me to my knees.

“Princess.”

Shaking off the use of the nickname that Ivy gave me, I try to gather myself without seeming too affected and walk over to the table. I’m not sure if it works, but if it doesn’t, Void has the good manners not to say anything about it.

After placing each of the plates down, I pull my chair out and sink down onto the hard wooden seat. Then I watch as Void opens the pizza boxes. One is an all-meat deluxe heart attack on bread. The other, I’m not sure what it is, but it looks amazing and different… There’s chicken on it.

“That’s what my mom loved. It’s a Valley Veggie with chicken.”

“What on earth is on it?” I ask, staring at the gloriously topped pie.

Void chuckles. “It’s got white sauce, spinach and broccoli, there’s artichokes on it, olives, chicken. Girlie shit,” he mutters as he reaches for a slice of meaty heaven.

“It looks amazing and different.”

He smirks before opening his mouth to take a bite of his pizza. I reach for a slice. The toppings are piled so high that they start to fall off. As soon as the piece is on my plate, I add the toppings back on, then stand abruptly.

Hurrying back into the kitchen, I tug a drawer open, finding a fork and knife before I make my way back to the table. Sitting down, I sink my teeth into the corner of my bottom lip as I begin to cut.

“What the fuck are you doing, woman?” Void’s voice calls out.

Stopping my sawing, I turn my head slightly, lifting my gaze up to meet his. “Cutting my pizza,” I state.

He arches a brow, silently requesting me to continue. “There is no way I can pick that up and bring it to my mouth without the toppings all falling off. This is the best solution. Now, is that okay?” I ask.

Void’s eyes widen, then his lips twitch. “Saw away, babe.”

I get back to work on my pizza, and when I have the slice cut into pieces, I stab one and bring it to my lips, wrapping them around the fork before I tug it out and begin to chew. My taste buds explode.

Full on explode.

Never in my life have I tasted a combination like this before. I have been missing out completely. When I moan, I hear Void’s chuckle, and it breaks my good vibes. Opening my eyes, I lookacross the table at him. He’s leaning back in his chair, his eyes on me and a smile on his lips.

“That good?” he asks.

“Your mother has amazing taste.”

His smile doesn’t fade as he shakes his head from side to side a couple of times. Then he clears his throat. “You ever had this pizza place before?” he asks.

“Never,” I confess.

“They’re legendary,” he simply states before he reaches for another slice.

Indeed.

They must be because everything from the chicken to the crust is out of this actual world. I think I might have a problem leaving this house, this town, just because of this pizza alone. I might need to stay here forever.
