I hold onto a shred of faith that there are good Alphas out there because of this man. He has put Piper and me first every time, hiding his own pain to bring us happiness.
I can never repay him.
He’ll always be the best big brother in the world, even if he likes to act like a villain.
Chase Wolf.
I bite my lip, hoping that Chase didn’t hear my revolutionary speech. I made the decision about going on the mission to save Jin without talking it through with Chase first.
What will he think about me taking such a huge risk?
Even if he tries to stop me, however, I’m going ahead with this mission.
I tilt up my chin, defiantly.
I’ll never back down, whenmy Ice Dragonneeds me.
I stroke over the glittering dragon on my t-shirt compulsively.
“Bro!” Piper leaps off the counter excitedly, scrambling across the shop. “You’re here, Wolf. Just in time.”
Piper throws himself into Chase’s arms, wrapping himself like a tiny limpet around the much larger Alpha.
Chase doesn’t even pause but continues to swagger toward me, carrying Piper with him like he weighs nothing.
Piper nuzzles happily against Chase, purring.
Chase quirks his pierced eyebrow, which matches Piper’s (luckily, our Head Alpha finds it adorable how much his younger brother looks up to and tries to copy him). “Just in time, huh? Is thatjust in timeto hear that our sis is planning to take on the entire music industry singlehanded? Go on a one Omega rampage against the Idols? Or plan an undercover mission without talking it through with her Head Alpha first?”
Shit, is he angry?
I wince, before counting out on my fingers. “Yes, yes…and yes.”
“Hmm, good work, Little Wolf. You’ve learned your lessons from me well.” Chase smirks.
Moonlight streams through the shop across the sharp planes of Chase’s face. He’s a couple of years older than me, tanned, athletic, and tall.
He’s dressed in tight but well-worn black leathers.
When I take a deeper breath of his scent, I can smell the oil mixed in with the vanilla bourbon.
He must have been out on his motorcycle again.
Chase is hardworking with his bonded Feral pack and busy on missions where he takes the lead in the BPU. On top of that, he helps out in Coffee Knot Tea.
He finds his escape in the mountains’ open roads on the back of his Harley…or with Harley, his Omega.
I have a feeling by the swagger in his step that he’s been riding both of them today.
Chase’s silvery hair is unusually wild.
I try not to laugh.
Helmet hair.
Chase’s eyes flash dangerously, before he twirls around unexpectedly and makes as if he’s about to drop Piper.
Piper screams but in enjoyment at the thrill and not in fear.
