I hear Cricket whimper on the other end of the phone, as I whine and arch off the bed in a wave of euphoria.

So fucking good.

Until I hear a bellow over the phone line of a stranger’s voice. “What the fuck are you doing, whore? Are you touching yourself? And who are you talking to? Who gave you permission to go on your brother’s computer? You bad, disobedient little slut…”

Cricket’s howl of pain is haunting.

“Crick? Crick?” I scream.

Then the line goes dead.

I stare at my phone in horror.

The happy glow is replaced by alarm.

Cricket’s family must have come back early.

I can no longer pretend that Cricket is only my source and not my male Omega.

He’s pack.

I feel it in my soul.

Pack who is trapped with an abusive family.

Ashen, I scramble off the bed in panic.

For a moment, I’m frozen in distress, unsure what to do.

Then I know exactly who deals best with knotheads who hurt their Omegas.

I type a new number into my mobile.

“Chase, how quickly can you get back here with your Harley?” I’m shaking. “We have an emergency rescue mission to save my Omega. He’s in danger right fucking now.”

I encouraged Cricket to rebel and act out.

Except, he’s the one paying for it.

CHAPTER FOUR

Burrow Forest, Haven

“When I said have fun with your man, I didn’t know that he was actually the infamous Knot Crusher.” Harbinger tightens his arm around me, holding me in front of him on his battered, all-black Harley.

“Surprise,” I call weakly over my shoulder.

Chase expertly speeds the motorcycle through the narrow path that leads into the shadowy forest. He skids to the side to avoid a tree stump, ducking to avoid a branch.

My pulse roars in my ears.

I lean low over the front of the Harley, safe in my brother’s arms, as he expertly handles the Harley through the dark summer night.

Normally, I love the freedom of riding with my brother.

As a teenager, I’d beg Chase to take me out with him.

When Piper would refuse to do his homework or go to bed, Chase never punished him. He only needed to casually mentionthat Omegas who did what they were told would be taken out for a ride on his motorcycle.
