We stand there a little while longer, my best friend crying into my hair, me shooting up a silent plea for Andrej to hurry the fuck up and find Havok so he can come home and prove to Allie that love does exist.
Then I smile because they really are perfect for each other.
Of the four of us, Allie is probably the most reserved. She's a fighter and so fucking strong but she's pretty chilled and usually the voice of reason.
Allie is also the oldest—if you go by human ages—of us at thirty-four but she doesn't look a day over twenty-one or twenty-two.
My human age was thirty-two but I'm ninety-three, Grace's was thirty-four because she's actually one hundred and thirty-four, and Casey just turned thirty-one.
So the fact that Allie is the calmest of our group, sort of the oldest in people years, and never really thought she'd find true love despite being a hopeless romantic—until Jeff—makes her absolutely perfect for Andrej.
The eldest dragon, the quietest. A super sensitive and caring soul hardened by circumstance. Someone who is also secretly a hopeless romantic with dreams of love and babies, who is also convinced he'll never have it.
They're two peas in a pod alright, but I also think they'll balance each other perfectly, just like my other besties do with their mates.
Casey is boisterous and a shit starter just like Milos but bull-headed enough to keep him on his toes.
Grace is super smart and was a nurse back in the seventies, an intellectual and a healer just like Henrich, but because she's a tiger she has a wicked temper which should make for an interesting component to their relationship.
Kai and I are polar opposites on paper. Me, the extrovert who can't shut up, him the introvert who barely grunts one word responses.
But again, it's all about balance.
There are elements, traits we each possess that complement its counterpart or opposite in our mate perfectly, and I love that The Maker paired us the way she did.
And I am so fucking thankful that she put my best friends with my brothers-in-law because being able to have them as sisters is pretty badass.
"Love you, Posey," Allie says on one final hug. "And I can't thank you enough for everything you've done for Daisy and I."
I smile and catch a few tears with my thumb. "Love you too, Al, but you don't have to thank me for it. We want you here, all of us. You're family so there is nowhere else I'd rather you be." Then I smirk. "You know… Kai has an older brother you haven't met yet..."
She rolls her eyes and snorts. "And if he's still single I'm sure there is good reason for it. I highly doubt a man that looks like any one of your boyfriends who's pushing forty is going to suddenly give up his bachelor lifestyle for a broke-ass, single mom with tits that sag to her knees like me."
And because I can, I lift her not at all saggy tits in my hands, give them a little pat and smile. "You have a great rack, Al. I'm sure Andrej will drool over your boobs as well as those wide hips and high butt cheeks."
"Fuck off!" She laughs. "My body has seen better days and if that doesn't scare him off then Daisy will."
"Nope." I shake my head. "These Dragovihk boys love big and show it, Al. I bet you a lifetime supply of Kady's raspberry pinwheels that Andrej will take one look at you and Daisy and fall so in love with both of you he won't even know what hit him."
Allie shakes her head and shrugs but looks up at me through her lashes. "Does he look more like Kai or Henrich?"
I giggle because at least she's open to the idea. "Kai for sure. Henrich and Milos look a lot alike but Andrej leans more toward Kai."
"They all look so much alike though."
"That they do but Andrej totally favors Kai, and from what I understand they look more like their father. Big, bad, and brooding."
Allie finally giggles. "Well, it doesn't really matter because they're all super hot so I'm sure Andrej is no different."
"He's a little different..." I tilt my head from side to side. "Andrej has been a soldier his entire adult life and he looks like it but if Kai wasn't my soulmate,"—mate in general, really—"I totally would have gone after Andrej."
Allie bites her lip as those blue-green eyes meet mine. "Maybe living here won't be half bad."
I laugh so hard I snort then honk like a goose. "Oh, Al, you have no idea. This house is fucking gold, honey, and you will love every minute of being here."
Just like the rest of us.
Now if only we could make it safe enough to quit worrying about everything crashing down around us.
