Page 49 of Hard To Love

Nick grinned, “So Emily, you don’t by any chance happen to have a twin sister, do you?”

Just then, Chase appeared playfully narrowing his eyes “Nick, what did I tell you about flirting with my girl?”

His eyes were twinkling when they looked back at me. Nick leaned into my ear, “he is so easy to excite. I love to piss him off.”

I chuckled and looked at Chase, who was slowly walking towards me with his arms crossed. “Something funny?” he asked.

I stood up to put my arms around him. He looked at me approvingly, and gave me a tender kiss on the forehead. Nick picked up his beer, and finished the remaining half in a couple gulps. He took a few steps towards us, then took my hand and planted a friendly kiss on the back. “It was a pleasure, darling.” Chase rolled his eyes, and tried not to laugh. ‘‘Seeing that you don’t have a twin, do you have a friend that you could set me up with? I’m really not that picky and very open-minded.”

Chase coughed into his hand, “that may be the understatement of the year!”

Nick grinned at him, then turned his attention back to me. “As I was saying, if you have a friend that is looking for a REAL man and wants to be swept off her feet, I’m your guy.” He gave me a kiss on the cheek and Chase pushed him away.

“Alright you tool, it’s time to see yourself out.” Nick started laughing and as he was walking towards the door he blew me a dramatic kiss. Chase gave him the finger and I busted out laughing. I loved seeing him like this, so relaxed and comfortable.

“See you tomorrow, Bro. And you two kids behave… don’t do

anything I wouldn’t do.” He gave us both a wicked grin and left.

I turned to Chase, “Didn’t you tell me you work with him?”

He looked at me confusedly, nodding his head, “Yes, why?”

My eyes shot up to his. “How do you get any work done with a character like that?”

He laughed while pulling me into the bedroom. “It’s not easy, but I manage. He’s a good guy but always the funny man.”

“I like him. He seems like he would be a ton of fun to hang out with.”

He tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ears. “He is nowhere near as fun as you are.” He whispered before pressing his lips against mine. Let the fun begin!
