“What did you just say?” Brad asked in a raised voice.

Everything started to make sense as I felt all the pieces of the puzzle start to click together. Unable to control my anger I burst through the office door and watched as a look of panic jumped onto their faces. Busted!

Megan’s eyes grew wide in shock as I advanced towards her. Brad tried to reach for my arm as I stormed past him.

“Don’t touch me!” I shouted, pushing his hand away.

“You!” I said pointing my finger into Megan’s chest. “…are a pathetic human being. You are pure fucking evil and if you think Chase will ever want anything to do with you after all this, you are sadly mistaken.”

She glared at me, “I don’t know what you think you heard just now, and quite frankly, I don’t give a damn. You’re nothing but a self-righteous bitch. You don’t deserve him and you sure as hell could never satisfy him like I could.”

I could no longer contain the rage pent up inside me, and the next thing I knew I felt my fingers ball into a fist and I smashed her in the mouth with a right hook. Brad’s arms wrapped behind me and restrained me from striking her again. I kicked and struggled to break free from his grasp and continued my verbal assault.

“You are nothing but a low-class tramp. There’s a reason why Chase only wanted you for a fuck buddy. And apparently, you weren’t even very good at that, because he never went back for seconds!”

“You bitch!” she screamed, as she lunged towards me.

All of a sudden, the door flew open.

“What the hell is going on in here?” I watched as Chase’s eyes scanned the room taking an inventory of the people present.

His eyes landed on Brad.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” He shouted, and then his eyes slid to where Brad’s hands were cupping my arms, holding me back. His blue eyes darkened so fast my blood ran cold. I quickly yanked my arms from Brad’s grip.

“I’ll tell you what’s going on” offered Megan, as she pointed at me.” Emily has been hooking up with her ex-boyfriend behind your back. She brought him here tonight so she could rub it in your face that they’re back together.”

Chase’s gaze narrowed to mine, his jaw ticked as he continued to stare me down. Things did not look good for me. The look he shot me basically said. “What the fuck?”

Pushing his blazing stare aside, I brought myself back to the present and turned my attention towards Megan.

“Actually, Chase is very well aware of how much time I’ve been spending with Brad. All thanks to you, right Megan?”

A pleading expression formed on her face. “Chase, I can explain…”

He held his hand up to her. “Not another fucking word, Megan.” He snapped his head towards me. “Emily, can you please tell me exactly what the fuck is going on?”

He shouted so loud it practically silenced the music blaring on the other side of the door.

I straightened my shoulders, and tried to simmer my overactive nerves.

“I came up to your office to wait for you so we could talk. Except when I reached the door I found Brad and Megan inside and I overheard them talking.”

My head swung over to Brad, his face paled and his eyes slid shut. He grumbled something under his breath, what exactly it was I wasn’t sure, but I knew he wasn’t happy.

I replayed all the details as Nick, Cassie, Liam, Jack and Colin gathered outside the office. They stood in the back, watching this shit show unfold.

Chase clenched his fists and his blue eyes turned hard as steel.

Megan shot him a nervous glance. “I can explain.”

“I want you to be quiet, and listen to me.” Chase calmly addressed her, causing her to quickly clamp her mouth shut. Slowly, he walked towards her; anger filled his eyes with each step he took.

“I slept with you once which is something I regret. I took pity on you while you continued to play me and my brother for fools. Then you were stupid enough to think you could get in the way of my relationship with Emily. Do you want to know how I know all this?” he asked, taunting her with his words. “We knew the drugs weren’t ours. The private investigator we hired, figured out that your car was ticketed outside of the home of a known drug dealer. When we paid him a visit tonight, he was really quite forthcoming with information.”

She flinched, clearly caught off guard by this new discovery. He could have offered more proof of her guilt, but she knew that the gig was up.

“Messing with me is one thing but messing with my family and the woman I love… Well let’s just say you’re not as smart as I thought you were.”
