“Chase, I have loved you, laughed with you, hurt you and have been hurt by you. I have fought with you and for you, and I have lost you. One thing I know, without a single doubt in my mind is that I could never live without you again. So yes, yes, a thousand times yes…I will marry you!”
His blue eyes sparkled in the sun as he placed the four-carat, princess cut diamond ring on my left finger. The gold setting was flanked by three dazzling smaller diamonds on each side. I had never seen a more beautiful ring in my entire life. A squeal left my body as he pulled me up off the chair into his strong arms. As soon as my eyes locked with his I took a second to record the moment. I didn’t ever want to forget the way he looked at me. His eyes showed so much love and passion that I wanted to bottle this memory up and keep it with me forever. I still wasn’t sure what I ever did to deserve him but there was one thing that was for sure, I would love him until the day I died.
He grinned before his head dipped closer and his lips brushed mine. His eyes were filled with tears as he sucked in a breath. “Do you have any idea how happy you just made me?”
“I think I have a pretty good idea, but I plan on making you a little happier later!” I said deepening the kiss.
He picked me up and spun me around as I squealed with laughter. When he set me down, I rested my hand against his chest admiring my ring. I’d never felt so full of love as I did in that moment.
He had worked his way into my soul and put all my broken pieces back together. He was my home, and I never had to worry about feeling alone ever again.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small remote. “Will you dance with me?” From out of nowhere the song ‘Then’ by Brad Paisley started to magically play as we danced to the lyrics.
When the song was over, I stared deeply into his beautiful, sparkling blue eyes. He looked at me like a blind man seeing the sun for the first time. “I love you, Chase.” And I did. With everything I had. We may not be perfect, but I didn’t need perfect. I just needed him.
