Her smile was soft and tentative. “It’s over. He signed both documents.”

“Damn. I wasn’t expecting that.”

Never in a million years did I think that Grant would give up his parental rights. The divorce papers were inevitable. But giving up Emery, I never saw that one coming.

She held my gaze and leaned against the door. “I’m just glad it’s over.”

I stepped up to her and slid my fingers between the soft strands of her hair. “Me too because I hate sleeping without you.”

She leaned into my touch. “Then don’t,” she whispered, and I blinked, making sure I heard her right.

I swallowed, glancing at her lips. “The only way that I’m climbing into that bed with you tonight is if I know that you are completely mine.”

“The second I walked out of that room, all I could think about was how much I wanted the comfort of your arms around me. But I needed to talk to him on my own. To handle it on my own. I needed him to see that I was done with his lies and his games. I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to admit this to you, but I finally realized that nothing matters more than what’s in my heart. And it’s yours, Quinn. It always has been.”

I pulled her mouth to mine, loving the way her soft lips tasted. She leaned in and opened her mouth so I could sweep my tongue against hers. Charlotte relaxed into me as I brought her even closer. Kissing her was as natural as breathing to me and I never wanted to stop.

I let my hands drift from her head down to her shoulders. I’d missed her. I’d spent our nights apart lying awake in bed, wishing she were next to me. Wishing everything could be different. Now that I had her back in my arms, I was never letting her go.

She placed her hand up against my chest. “Let’s go upstairs.”

She turned to walk away, but I grabbed her wrist. “Charlotte, we need to talk.”

“We’ll talk after. I need you now, Quinn.”

Fuck! Like any man could deny that request.
