“I want to be strong enough to protect her.”

The woman glided across the moss and paused before me.You’ve done well to this point. I brought you to her for a reason. I knew that she could save you and that you could love her, that you would build a foundation strong enough to withstand the storm to come.

The weight of potential failure hung heavy on my shoulders. I wished I didn’t need anyone else to protect Logan. I wanted to keep her to myself, safe and loved, for the rest of her life. I’d keep her alive by any means necessary, even if it meant losing her, or giving up my life for hers.

The woman’s eyes flashed.Let us hope neither of those things are necessary. Go with grace.

She vanished and the world twisted again.

I jolted awake, into the dim pre-dawn glow, next to a sleeping Logan and Seth.

Logan rolled over. “What’s wrong?”

Seth stirred next to her, but instead of waking he only snuggled in deeper.

“Just a dream.” I forced myself to lie back down.

How fast was danger coming?

Whatelsewas dangerous?

Would it kill the gods to be less cryptic once in a gods-damned while?

So cozy. I burrowed closer to the warmth. The soft scent of jasmine, pine, and an earthy undertone saturated every breath. I rooted my nose against the source, eyes too heavy to open.

A giggle broke through my awareness. “You’re tickling me.”

Logan.

I tucked even tighter against her, my body reacting to the heat of her, my dick urging me to rock against her ass where it was nestled in my lap. I indulged and her laughter broke off into a shudder.

Yes.

Good.

More of that, please.

I snaked my hand over her waist and under the hem of her pajama T-shirt, stroking the softness of her stomach, using my palm to press her into me. She threaded her fingers into my hair and held firmly. Her breathing shifted, an intriguing, quiet moan filling the room.

Every bit of me wanted to inch her flannels down so I could slide into her. Her hips ground against me.

A sharp cough snapped my eyes open and I saw Caden standing in the doorway with a cup of coffee in his hand. “Having fun?”

My cheeks burst into flames, and, unfortunately, the embarrassment of being caught did absolutely nothing to tell my dick that playtime was over.

Logan patted the empty patch of bed Caden had vacated to make his coffee. He sat down, setting his cup on the nightstand and smoothed a hand over her mussed hair.

“You didn’t answer the question.”

My heart kicked against my ribs.Maybe.

He chuckled and leaned down to kiss Logan before looking pointedly at me. “If you’re not having a good time grinding my girlfriend, what’s the point?”

Logan snort-laughed and giggled into her hands. “Well,Iwas having fun.”

Caden snared her chin and lifted her mouth to his. The scent of her arousal ratcheted up. “Good.”

Before I could get too excited over her getting revved, my stomach gave an obnoxious growl that froze us all. Logan burst into laughter all over again and Caden clapped a sympathetic hand on my shoulder.
