I bundle her in my arms before I feel and hear her stomach grumble.
“Do you want me to grab us some food while you shower?”
“I think I just fell more in love with you,” she says as the two of us laugh, taking as many seconds as we can wrapped in one another's arms before we untangle.
Asshockfiltersthroughmy system, I do the only thing I can and pick up my phone, dialing the only people I want to talk to.
“Why are you calling us on vacation?” Ella asks me. “Damn, your tan looks wonderful, though.”
“I’m freaking out.”
“Amelia, I thought we were done with the whole running thing when you came back here all those years ago?” Hads asks me, but my mind can only focus on the thing in my hand. Where the fuck is Paige? I needallmy girls here with me. Just as her phone clicks in, I see Oliver on the other side of it, and I groan.
“Seriously? I thought I was going to get a week off from you and your incessant calls. Isn't that the point of a vacation?”
“Shut it, Nosferatu,” I snark as I pace around the bathroom. “Where is your wife?”
“In front of the toilet.” He sighs heavily. “Her morning sickness has been horrible lately, you guys know that.”
“That means the little bean is growing properly!” Grant pops his head into the screen, and I’m still freaking the fuck out.
“I need Paige,” I tell him. “Like right now.”
“Amelia…” Grant trails off. “What’s going on?”
“I need my girls,” I say as I sit on the floor of the resort bathroom, my head in my hands. “Please, Oliver. I need Paige.”
I think he realizes how dire of a situation this is, because I’ve never been so nice to him. He shuffles over to his pregnant wife, andwhen I see Paige sitting on the floor of her bathroom, crackers and ginger ale in hand, she shrieks.
“Did I almost miss a debrief? Ugh!” she says as she throws her hands up. “I miss you, Ames! What’s going on?”
“She’s having a tsunami-level meltdown,” Ella says. “At least, that’s what I think is happening.”
“Is everything okay? Where’s Henry?” Hads asks me.
“He went to get us some food,” I say. “I stayed in the room.”
“And that became a full-blown meltdown?” Paige wonders.
“Well, yes.”
“How?” Hads asks, and before I say anything else, I flip the camera to show them the reason I’m going insane.
“Is that what I think it is?” Ella asks, and I shake the camera to match my nodding behind it.
“You’re pregnant?” Paige practically screams over the line.
“Oh God, there’s going to be another Amelia? Prayers to us,” Oliver jokes, and I wish Hads could smack him with something.
“What?” I hear from across the other side of the door, and when I hear Henry’s voice, I unlock it, his eyes already filled with tears. “Did I hear that right?”
“Mhm,” I confirm. “And I’m terrified, Hen, because this wasn't part of our plan—”
He picks me up, and my phone falls to the floor as he spins me around the bathroom. “Fuck the plan, Mills. This is—fuck.” He sets me down and cradles my face in his hands. “This is the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
“Really?”
“Yes, really,” he says as a few tears fall from his eyes. “My God, Amelia, youare the best thing that happened to me.”
