Oh my God. What if Kristoph came to the door before the time he knocked?
What if someone else did?
They’d know exactly what we were doing.
My hands press to my flaming cheeks as absolute horror consumes me.
What the hell came over me?
Alena exclaims, “Ohhh, what came over you? What did you do?” My head jerks up in time to see her practically skip through the door. I must have spoken out loud. “You kissed him? How was it?!”
She slumps into the chair on the other side of my desk and I glare at her. I mean, what happened was partly her fault.
Ok, that’s not fair. It was my fault.
But, it was her idea for me to go over there and confront him in the first place.
Not that what happened might not have happened anytime… no matter what.
Her mouth drops open and she scoots forward in the chair. Setting her elbows on the desk and resting her chin on her palm as she searches my face, she grins at me. “You did! You kissed him, didn’t you?!” I feel the heat in my cheeks as she squeals, “Oh, tell me. Tell me what happened. Don’t leave anything out!”
Well, I’m certainly leaving some of it out.
I love my sister, but she doesn’t need to know that Blaze had ME for lunch earlier.
Is it getting hot in here?!
Good lord.
Rolling my eyes, I straighten the already straight papers on my desk. “Ok, yes. I stormed over there… his brother was there, as was all of the work crew, so he pulled me into his office once he saw I was mad…”
Alena interrupts me. “His brother… you mean Kristoph? Kristoph is his brother, right?”
Frowning at her, I nod. “Yes, Kristoph. How do you know him? He’s older than I am.”
Alena smirks and leans back in her chair as she checks her nails. “He’s thirty-one, but I know who he is… I don’t reallyknowhim. I just know who he is. Anyway, I just didn’t know he was back, too.” She waves her hand dismissively. “Back to your kiss with the other Carrington.”
My eyes narrow at my little sister. If she knows who he is, then she knows for a reason. We’ll come back to that later though. There are only four years between us, but, it’s crazy how different we are.
She pointedly looks at me while raising her annoyingly perfect brow. “The kiss… I’m dying over here.”
Making a face at her, I say rapidly, “We went to his office and I kissed him. He kissed me back. I told him off because he didn’t know why I was mad at him. Or, not the specific reason. I have a date tonight. The end.”
Alena starts laughing as she leans back in the chair. She laughs her ass off while I glare at her and then, she says, “You are a terrible liar. And, your face looks like you’ve been in the sun all day with no hat or sunscreen.” I feel my face burn even hotter and she laughs again as she watches me. Then, she sits straight up and her mouth falls open. “Oh. My. God! You hadsexwith him!Today! At the Community Center.”
What? No, I didn’t!
I mean, not actual sex!
How could she possibly know that?!
“I didnot!” I sputter as I quickly stand up and rush over to my office door, glancing down the hall and sighing in relief before rapidly closing it. My back rests against it as I glare at Alena. “You can’t just blurt shit like that out, Alena!” I hiss at her. “Someone could overhear you and then I’d be the talk of the town. Especially since wedid nothave sex! My God! As if…”
Oh, yeah.
Because sex with Blaze on top of the desk in his office was totally out of the question.
If he hadn’t put a halt to what was happening between us, that’s exactly what would have happened…
