What?
No way.
She’s far older than he is… I mean, not that it really matters in Fae years… but is something going on there?
Callum takes my hand, wrapping his fingers around mine, and squeezing. He leads me inside before I can ask. Cyrus and Devyn follow behind us.
Together, we wander inside, and I peer around. “There is so much stuff in here.” My brows draw together as I see piles and piles of huge containers stacked one over the other far above our heads. The entire warehouse is full of them. These were not here the other night. To get through them all is almost like a maze.
How do humans even know what anything is in here?
“Commercial shipments,” Callum comments aloud. My eyes widen and he grins down at me in the dim light from the oddly placed light high in the ceiling. He winks as I hear his voice within my head,“Figured I’d answer so Cyrus and his girlfriend could hear, too…”
I silently retort,“She’s not his girlfriend!”
He laughs, saying, “If there’s anything from the Trahans, I’m sure they already came back for it.”
“I can try an enchantment I learned from a witch. It might work. Try to locate anything with an inhuman odor on it,” Devyn offers.
She just said she learned and enchantment from a witch.
It is a good idea.
I look over at Callum, waiting for him to agree.“Fucking witches are real, too. Awesome…”
He only shakes his head, sighing. “A fucking witch… Damn. You could try, but we’re not sure where whatever they had shipped here came from. If it wasn’t shipped by other werewolves, and they haven’t touched it, it won’t do much good.”
“Rougarou are only concentrated in this small area of the Earth,” I say, remembering what I read. “So, it probably won’t help. Unless another Gifted touched it.”
Callum’s eyes widen as he exclaims, “How many other creatures or beings or Gifted whateverarethere? I know Fae exist… and now I know there are Rougarou… and fuckingwitches. I’ve recently met a troll… But what else is there? How much is there?”
My heart-rate speeds up, and I suddenly feel lightheaded at the panic in Callum’s tone and the thoughts racing through his head.
I practically know nothing about the world… and not just the human one.
This is all so much.
He’s completely overwhelmed.
So am I.
* * *
Aeris is right.
What the hell else is out there that isn’t supposed to fucking exist?
What all don’t I know?
Is everything made up actually fucking real?
I feel her tense beside me, her hand tightening around mine. Her breathing increases. She’s freaking out because I’m freaking out.
Shit.
“Breathe, little fairy. I’m right here. Breathe, my love.”
Rubbing my thumb along the side of our joined hands, and trying to stop my own impending panic attack, I think of the ocean and concentrate on the waves within my head. “What about trying to find anything with magickal elements in here?” I suggest to Devyn keeping one eye on Aeris.
