“Yeah. I mean, shit, you’ve loudly proclaimed you’re not the type for it. And look at the last time I asked someone. I couldn’t survive that again, lose someone like that. Especially not all of you.”
“Skylar, are you saying you…want to…”
“Yes.” They whisper, struggling to say the word. It catches me off guard and I hold my breath. “I thought it would be cool notto. But the more I watch them together—the tender moments and sparkle in their eyes—the more I want to show you I’ll never leave. Promise you I’m yours, and theirs, forever, you know?”
I cup their face and move up to kiss their forehead. “You think too much sometimes, my gorgeous deity. My perfect dark moth. Go on, do it.”
“I don’t have a?—”
“I don’t care. Do it.”
They stare up, letting me get lost in the swirling amber of their eyes. “Daniella, my devious siren. Your wicked song has fatally wrapped itself around my heart and taken my soul hostage for all eternity. A part of me dies every time you kiss me, the part full of darkness, hatred, and loathing. You’ve taken my pieces, broken and scattered, and collected them one by one like shells from distant sandy beaches. You glued them to you, filling in your own broken pieces, building your armor and making me yours. Let me be yours forever?”
“Damn showoff,” Theo mumbles, and Xander can’t help but giggle.
“How am I supposed to say no to that?”
“I’m hoping you don’t.”
We seal the deal with a kiss as Xander and Theo both softly clap and cheer, not wanting to wake other passengers or draw too much attention. Skylar flips them both off and pulls the covers up over our head, and listen to the mechanical whir of the partition coming up. A moment later, my shorts are gone, panties pushed to the side, and Skylar slides inside me, their mouth over mine to keep me quiet as their piercings push all my buttons. I rock my hips, pushing him deeper, but he grabs me, slowing me down.
“I want to be inside you, Beetle. Just like this. Nice and slow.”
“I don’t do nice. Or slow,” I whisper back. I’m about to add more when they cut me off, teasing my ass with his fingers.
“You will for me.”
I wonder if Theo has his cock inside Xander right now. I’m picturing it, imagining what the scene must look like from above. Writhing sheets and silent screams, breathy moans and breathless moments. Theo’s low grunt tells me he’s finished first, a moment later comes Xander’s shuttering gasp. Skylar’s determined I’ll be next, hooking two fingers inside me to the knuckle while their hips move slow and steady. They use their free hand to cover my mouth.
“Show me how good a girl you can be when I’m filling your greedy pussy.” Even flying to foreign countries, they can’t help their dirty mouth.
I shatter for them, quietly falling apart as my body shakes. I don’t hear them, but I sense them follow me into the abyss. When they’re done, muscular arms wrap around me, protecting me in this vulnerable state of bliss. They fall asleep first, their body more relaxed than normal, and their breathing just a bit softer. Everything about this moment is surreal.
We’re engaged. I smile as I drift off, surrounded by their warmth.
Theo’s so freaked out and excited he could explode. He’s trying to hold it all in, but we all see it. His hands shake, his voice shakes, his entire body could be mistaken for a vibrator at this point. Marie picks us up in her adorably tiny car, and I’m glad I didn’t pack all my things. We pile in, Skylar in the front since he’s so tall, the rest of us nice and cozy in the back. Theo points out the restaurant where he first worked and smiles as he recalls the different places he went with Élodie and Gio. The sadnesswhen he talks about them has lessened, replaced more every day by laughter and happy tears. But he and Marie both refuse to tell us where we’re going.
I’m instantly in love with the city, and sad when it’s nothing more than a distant skyline in the rear window. But the countryside is pure artwork. The colors are a palette of greens and browns spotted with brightly colored flowers in some areas. We pass by farmlands with rows and rows of grapes followed by a field of cows and flowers. Somehow, the scenery never changes but never looks the same. Xander pulls me close as I gawk out the window.
“Are you seeing how beautiful all of this is?” I ask in a whisper.
“I am.” I turn to look at him and see he’s staring at me, not out the window. My cheeks burn because no matter what, I’ll always blush for Skylar, Xander, and Theo.
“Okay, everyone,” Theo announces, waking Skylar from his nap. “Close your eyes. No peeking or you’ll spoil it.”
“I had my eyes closed just fine before you piped up.”
“Don’t be a brat, Skylar.”
“Yeah, that’s my job,” Xander says, blowing Skylar a kiss.
Theo shakes his head, but laughs, and we all close our eyes. The car slows and turns, gravel crunching under the weight of the wheels. A rooster crows somewhere in the distance, which strikes me as odd since I thought they only did that in the morning. My mind races at what the surprise could be, and it doesn’t help when Theo reminds us to keep our eyes closed as he gets out and shuts his door. I’m so tempted to open my eyes, but I don’t want to spoil this for Theo, or myself.
One by one, he helps us all out and stands us by the car. The scent of country air fills my head, sending my mind on a wild ride of ideas from petting zoos to the thought that we’re being lined up for a firing squad.
“Okay, open them.”
None of us speak as we look around at a view that should be in a museum somewhere. The two-story house has a charming look that would never work in the wilds of Los Angeles, but here in the French countryside, it’s perfect. Butterflies flit around the garden in the back near a swing hanging from a tree branch, and row after row of grapevines grow as far as I can see.
