"Taming your temper has always been my favorite sport," he said next before pressing his lips to my neck again.

His words went into my ears and on impulse I felt the need to push him off. I didn't want him to know that, or to remember how he's always been able to cool me down after a fight. But his lips on me, his tongue leaving wet, fiery trails along my neckline leading down to the V-neck of my sweater. I was weak.

But not weak enough.

"Kai, chill," I panted, nudging him off me.

He stepped back and pulled me with him. I slammed into his chest once more and his mouth returned on mine. My knees buckled, but he held me up. He wrapped his arms around me and guided me so close, I felt the rhythm of his heart against my breasts. It felt so good being back in his space again. Breathing in the same air he did, exhaling at the same pace he did. We were in sync in that moment, like old times. As one. Giving in to that fire that burned within us,forus. I could have stayed that way with Kai forever. But my ego... dammit, my ego would not allow me to indulge in our reunion after an entire year of being apart, and it wouldn't allow my moment of weakness to happen.

"Stop Kai," I said just above a whisper, ripping myself from his arms. "I'm not... we’re not." I swallowed what little confidence I could get in me and added, "I won't do this again."

We stood apart, chests heaving, lips wet, bodies calling for each other.

He said nothing. Just burned me with his lustful gaze. Sex was in his eyes, something he has never and I mean never tried to hide from me during moments like this between us.

My body hummed with want and my knees were starting to knock. Kai witnessed all that, scanning my body unapologetically with his eyes.

I had to get out of there.

"Excuse me," I told him, trying to brush past him.

He caught me by the arm and walked up behind me, burying his nose in my hair, inhaling me.

I closed my eyes for a few seconds, feeling as his heart beat against the back of my neck.

For a moment we said nothing, just stood there. His body to my body, exchanging heat that was rising between us the longer we remained in that spot.

He felt defeated. Kai didn't have to say it. It was all over his aura. He dropped the weight of his head against mine and inhaled me once more. He pecked me at the crown of my head, wrapping his arm tight around my waist. I tightened my lids to keep from crying.

Less than two seconds later, I peeled myself from his hold and he let me go without protest. I didn't even bother turning to look at him as I unlocked, then opened the door, leaving the room and closing the door behind me.
