Simon snarled again, his anger rising. He turned to me, his eyes fierce and full of determination. “Stay there,” he hissed.
Simon leapt off the wet rock, jumping to the next one with such agility. He had no weapons except for his claws and hooves. My heart flew into my throat. This was insane. He was freaking insane!
The ogre let out a booming laugh, obviously amused by Simon’s bravery. “Little monster, you cannot defeat me!” He raised his massive fist and swung it towards Simon, who dodged it with a swift leap.
Simon was agile and fast, while the ogre had slower movements. Each swing of the ogre’s arm, Simon was able to dodge. I didn’t know if Simon could survive a hit, but he never backed down, though. He darted between the ogre’s legs to try and find a weak spot. I bit my lip, watching in horror as the battle unfolded.
The ogre continued to taunt Simon, whose laughter echoed through the forest. “Give her to me, you dirty goat!” he roared as he swung his massive arm again. This time, Simon dodged it just in time and landed behind one of the thick tree trunks along the tree line.
For a brief moment, I thought he was safe. But the ogre wasn’t deterred. He smashed the tree where Simon hid. With the tree gone, I poked my head over the rock and saw that Simon wasn’t there.
He wasn’t anywhere.
The ogre chuckled and whipped his head around him. “Gone already? Pitiful,” he sniffed, the mucus sucking back up into his nose. “A worthless creature—”
Simon roared, jumping down from one of the tallest trees. I gasped, watching him fall. The ogre looked up, not ready for the assault. Simon landed on the ogre’s face, his long claws diving into one of his eyes.
The ogre roared, the ground and trees trembling. A dark, green liquid oozed from his eye and face.
Ew, is that its blood?
I held back a gag and did my best to hide my body so I wouldn’t be seen.
As the struggle continued, I could see Simon’s determination in his eyes, his resolve was unwavering. The forest echoed with the sounds of battle: the crunch of breaking branches, the muffled yells of frustration from the ogre, and Simon’s fierce growls.
Suddenly, Simon leaped from the ogre’s face and onto one of the long branches above us. He used his muscular arms and made himself into a catapult. He pushed back on the limb and let go with a swift motion. He propelled himself towards the ogre. The branch had been pushed back so hard it slammed into the ogre’s face.
The ogre roared again, clutching at his now-blinded eye and stumbling backward from the hit. He was knocked off balance and fell to his knees.
Seizing this opportunity, Simon jumped onto the ogre’s back and began clawing at him viciously. With each swipe of hisclaws, blood dripped from the ogre’s back like a waterfall. The ogre bellowed in pain and fury but was powerless against Simon’s quick, relentless assault.
It was a train wreck that I couldn’t look away from.
The ogre thrashed and got up. Simon was making weird noises, but I didn’t know what they meant. Was he hurt? Was he exerting himself too much?
I couldn’t sit here and wait. I was going to be the dumb heroine in my story and get him to stop. This ogre was too big and powerful, and Simon’s claws would not be able to hit any vital organs.
I swam to the side of the pool and raced out. The ogre was throwing his arms around like Simon was a fly. One hit, and Simon was going to get knocked out. “Simon!” I screamed, taking steps away from them.
I wasn’t completely stupid.
Simon’s back was to me, but his head perked up when he heard me. I could see the rippling muscles beneath the fur that had grown on his back. When his head turned, his face was feral. Long fangs, red eyes, nose flaring.
Chills ran down my spine as I watched just how scary he was. My cute little Simon was -terrifying.
In a hot way? I guess reading monster romances paid off.
He huffed and let his claws scratch down the ogre’s face one more time before he jumped off its body. Simon galloped toward me and picked me up, throwing me over his shoulder like the first time we met.
Ahh, the memories.
“Female, I said to stay.”
Em, excuse me? Female?
I slapped Simon’s furred back and growled at him myself. “You are not the boss of me.”Just the boss of my pussy.“Simon, you could have gotten hurt!”
Simon let out an unintelligible sound and sprinted us off through the woods. I felt the limbs slapping my butt and let out squeaks of discomfort. Simon paused, then put me into his arms like I was his bride, and ran off again.
