I nod.

“He’s crazy, though—I mean legitimately crazy. I told him I had a man; he thought it was him and I was playing games. I’ve never led him on. You know I don’t play those kinds of games. AndI have a man. From the moment you rescued me, I’ve never strayed.”

“I’m not scared of your stalker, Liv. We’ve faced too much shit already. I can use your computer to conference work, we got that program that lets me get files from anywhere. All I have to do is download it on your computer, and I can make calls from anywhere.”

“But—” I start to protest. He talks over me.

“But if he breaks in while I’m there, Liv, it’ll be once. I guarantee it’ll never happen more than once. You’re safe now.”

I know I’m safe. I feel safe. That’s why I called him, isn’t it? “We can go home whenever you want to, babe.”

“I know a guy in the security business. He did a couple jobs for us a few years back, moved out to this area. Norfolk, I think. I’ll give him a call.”

He did exactly that. I got up to shower and when I came back into the room he was lying on the bed, still naked I might add, talking to this security guy on the phone.

My Gage is really back. I hope I’ve done the right thing bringing him here.
