Len jogged over to switch the camera from video to still mode. It was one of those ridiculously expensive toys only Brandon or Sinjin could afford. Sinjin buried his nose in my hair as the first photo snapped. As long as we stayed where the ceremony took place, we’d all be in the photos.

The monument made a perfect altar area, but the ocean backdrop was what sealed it as the ideal view for a wedding.

Before heading back down the rock, I changed back into my boots to keep from slipping on a slippery wet step and breaking my ankle or plunging to my death at the bottom if I didn’t break my neck first during the fall. As promised weeks ago when he’d bought them for me, Sinjin carried my heels back down for me.

The ferry took us back to the mainland none too soon. The weather picked up, making the current treacherous as the waves crashed against the side of the boat, rocking it from side to side. The rain began pummeling us. Thankfully, we stayed dry inside.

This return trip proved my mettle. If I didn’t puke from the roiling sea, then I was never puking again. Sinjin held me, stroking the inside of my wrist. “It wasn’t fair for you to upstage the bride, Geet.”

I rolled my eyes. “You just like me.”

“Absolutely. Doesn’t change the truth.”

“You know, Rob is the only one here without a plus one,” I said.

“Maybe he misses your sister. I don’t know what went down between them, but sometimes people make stupid decisions they come to regret. The smart ones try to make things right before it’s too late.”

“You think I was too hard on him?”

“Sunshine, if Lu is half the woman you are, then he’s seriously kicking himself right now. But your loyalties lie with your sister. My opinion?”

I nodded.

“Continue to give him crap,” he said. “But listen to what he has to say.”

“Okay.”

The taxi bus waited for us at the dock, shuttling our group back to the hotel, where we were escorted to the entrance to a fine dining restaurant called Pingo-pingo, named after a Chilean fruit, supposedly an aphrodisiac.

We were led to a room set up just for us. From the moment we sat at the table and the server handed me my first Chilean pisco sour, the world was a beautiful place to live in and nothing could bring me down. We gorged ourselves on so much food, I couldn’t begin to name it all—a lot of fish. Because the restaurant didn’t do wedding cakes, the servers walked in at the same time each carrying a brownie sundae with lit sparklers stuck in the ice cream, singing a song of congratulations. Len must have arranged this for Kam. Brownie sundaes were hardly a Chilean delicacy but totally one of Kami’s favorite desserts.

If I thought nothing could be better, I was wrong. After the sparkler burned out of my sundae. After I’d tapped out eating half of mine, Sinjin leaned in, I thought to kiss my cheek but snagged my earlobe with his teeth. “I’m ready to not be around people,” he said. “How ’bout you?”

I scooted my chair out, standing fast, and walked around the table to bend down and kiss Kami’s cheek. “I’m letting Sinjin take advantage of me, so we’re calling it a night.”

She and Len both laughed. I kissed his cheek, too. “Love you both,” I said.

“Tomorrow. Sightseeing.” Len reminded me.

“Tomorrow. Sightseeing,” I confirmed before being whisked away by my man. I managed to call “by all” over my shoulder as we cleared the private room.

As soon as the elevator doors shut, Sinjin’s mouth came down hard and heavy on mine, reminiscent of the first time he’d had me in his living room.

This. This was all I needed for the rest of my life.

He carried me from the elevator, my legs wrapped around his waist, my arms around his neck. I didn’t care that at least one person passed us. I had Sinjin’s hardness pressed against my center. Even through clothing, it was enough to make a girl really happy. And by girl, I meant me. I was the really happy girl in this scenario.

Before long, but after what seemed to take too much time, I found myselfau naturel—free flowing on the bed, Sinjin on top of me. We deserved tonight. My best friend married tonight. We were in a foreign country and it was Sinjin naked next to me.

I had no idea what tomorrow would bring, but tonight was really freaking great.

Eighteen:

We met in the lobby early the next morning, but not too early. I guessed most of us held some kind of private afterparty last night. The problem with having a best friend who was now a hairdresser-turned-adventure-guide was that she liked her adventure.Theyliked adventure. So what did I expect when I showed up in the lobby of the hotel?

Evidently, we’d underdressed for the occasion when the Lowensteins, Dion and Henri, Rob and the newly christened McCartneys showed up looking to rock climb while Sinjin and I wore jeans and T-shirts.

“I think we missed the memo,” I whispered to him.
