“War,” I agree.

I wish we’d finished the heavy, but there are a few other things to consider besides war with the Death Bringers. “Now that we’ve agreed on that,” I say, “we still have the other problem.”

“Jack,” Sarge says.

“Jack,” I answer back. “How is he getting his info? We don’t put our drop locations out there for people to overhear. So how is he finding out?”

“How are we getting to the bastard now that he’s in prison?” Dark asks.

“Pay someone on the inside. He wouldn’t be the first asshole shanked in the shower,” Cutter says and he’s not wrong, but at the same time, he is. His wife has gotten close with Green’s woman, Danni. We could take him out, but to what end?

“We don’t let the justice system handle Jack Dark and Green never get true closure,” I point out. Green’s first old lady, the one who got herself carved by The Bible Belt Killer, was Rae’s younger sister. Green and Danni met because Danni went hunting and found us. Her mother also bit it at the hand of that psychopath. “Rae, Danni, and every other victim’s family member deserves to see his day in court. They deserve that closure.”

Dark nods.

“You’re right,” Vlad says quietly. “We’ll let the justice system handle Jack. Our focus is finding the leak and plugging it.”

Vlad slaps his hand down on the table, signaling the end of the session. While the other men funnel out, I stop Vlad with a hand to his bicep. “So, to be clear, you’re good with me and your sister.”

He nods. “Just don’t flaunt that shit. I don’t want to see you making out with my sister.”

“Brother.” I laugh. “I’m kissing her whenever I feel the urge, and whether you want to think about it or not, Gee being mine means Gee’s in my bed. I’m not living my life as a monk and she’s no nun. So do whatever you need to do to be okay with that.”

“Fuck,” he whispers. “Yeah—right. I’ll deal.”

“Good.” I pat his shoulder. “Now I’m gonna go fuck your sister.”

His eyes bug out of his head like he can’t decide if he wants to kill me or get sick and I laugh all the way out of the war room.

“What’s so funny?” Gee asks. She’s sitting at the bar talking to Horace. A glass of Coke with ice sits in front of her.

I lift my eyebrow. “Coke?”

She shrugs. “I had all those margaritas at dinner.”

Nodding, I round the bar, holding my hand out to her. She looks around, presumably to check for her brother before she takes it and I tug her up from the stool, spinning her into my arms. Then Ikissher. The kind that shows each and every man in the room that I claim Gee. She’s mine.

Her body melts against mine as we fall back against the bar to keep us standing upright. I use my hand to brace us so her back doesn’t hit the edge. She whimpers into my mouth at the same time she burrows her warm hands under my cut, under my shirt, to sear my skin. I groan at the contact.

“Fuck, brother,” Vlad’s voice calls out. “What did I say about not flaunting it?”

I reluctantly pull my lips from Gee’s, pressing my forehead to hers, and we both break out laughing. Although she’s a goddess naked, I don’t think she’s ever looked prettier than now, laughing. Her entire face lights up.

“Sorry, Daniel,” she says. “I just—”

“I know what you just. I’m married. It’s justgoing to takemea bit to get used to.”

“Rough’s a good man.”

“He is. And a great brother to have at your back. It’s not him. No man is good enough for my sister.”

“You’re wrong. He is.”

Vlad hangs his head. “Heis.”

Gee nods at me and I read that to mean she needs me to let her go for a minute. She walks around the bar to hug her brother.

“Right,” Vlad says as he moves back from her. “Going home to my family now.”
