A sheen glistens in Hector’s eyes as he takes our son from me, holding him close to his chest, cradling him. I smile, knowing that we will remember this moment forever.

Later, when I’m wearing a clean surcoat and Averill and Everly have replaced the bedding, I settle next to Hector. He holds our daughter, and I hold our son. We already decided what we will name them. Emela and Lycus.

I shift closer to Hector and place our son in his arms too. My heart swells with happiness at the sight of him holding our children, one in each arm. Love and devotion shine in his eyes as he stares down at them.

“You got your wish,” I say, recalling our conversation from months ago.

“My wish?” he asks, his voice brimming with emotion.

“Yes. You said I would have twins.”

“I was jesting with you, but I am very grateful for them.” The bed creaks as he shifts enough to kiss me. “Thank you, Sol.”

Tears blur my vision as I settle back against the pillow and smile. I never thought this would happen when I traveled here all those months ago. I only wanted revenge, and I never thought I would walk away. Never thought I would live after I took Roland’s life.

Now, I have all of this. A husband. Two children. A family. Friends. A tribe that I belong to. And I have the blessing of the gods.

Every day, I see their work more and more, the way they wield their influences over us. They guide us, and they will not stop until the six tribes are at peace again.

I feel it deep in my soul.

One Tarrobane.
