Robbie grins, letting out a scoff. “And you think I’m just an object for you to use whenever you please?”
I grip each side of his open jacket, pulling him closer to me. “Are you opposed to that?” I ask, tilting my head up towards him.
Robbie’s tongue pushes into the side of his cheek, the mask he’s put on flickering.
I raise my brows, pushing him to answer.
He rolls his lips into his mouth, shaking his head. “No, ma’am. I can’t say that I am,” he smirks. “Do with me what you will, baby.”
“Great,” I grin, standing on my tiptoes and leaning in close enough to brush his lips with mine. “Let’s start now.”
I drop back down on my heels, grabbing Robbie’s hand and pulling him after me.
“Where are we going?” he asks.
“Your car.”
“What? Really?” Robbie asks, his feet skidding to a stop.
I spin back around to face him. “Yeah,” I say. “So you can drive us to get milkshakes.” The shocked look on Robbie’s face relaxes somewhat, but then I add, “But after the milkshakes, who knows?” I give him a wink, moving to drag him along again towards the front door of the school.
Robbie blows out a harsh breath, chuckling for a few seconds, but then I feel him slow again. “Wait, hold on for a second, Cooper.”
“What?” I question him.
“Lunch is up in ten minutes.”
“So?”
Robbie cocks his head. “So…we aren’t going to have enough time to get milkshakes and get back before class starts.”
“So, we don’t go to class. The last half of my day is boring anyways.”
His brows pull together. “You wanna skip the rest of the school day?”
“Don’t you?” I ask him.
“I mean… Sure, I guess.”
“Then it’s settled,” I smile, grabbing Robbie’s hand again. I start walking once more, but only make it a couple of steps before Robbie speaks up again.
“Cooper?”
“Yeah?” I ask, not looking back at him.
“What was that about?”
“Hmm?”
“What did Principal Whileyman have to talk to you about?” Robbie asks.
“Oh,” I say. “I’m not valedictorian anymore.”
I’m instantly yanked back by the force of Robbie coming to a complete stop.
“What?”
“What?” I ask, my voice even.
