I already knew so I nodded. I didn’t know how I was supposed to tell him, so I didn’t. You didn’t tell a man his baby sister was selling pussy. That was just something you didn’t do.

“She wanna do that with her body, than that’s on her. She’s just like her mama. That’s her shit. I only control one pussy, and that’s the one between yo’ legs.”

I didn’t mean to giggle at his statement, but I couldn’t help it.

“What? You saying I don’t?” Gone was the serious expression that once covered his handsome face. Now he was smirking.

“I mean considering the fact that you have two children about to pop out of it in about thirty weeks, I’m inclined to agree.”

He chuckled. “Regardless of that. “Err’thang about you belongs to me shawty. You can act like you lick the windows on the short yellow bus if you want to, but you know what’s up.”

I shook my head deciding not to even respond to the short yellow bus pun. “What did you mean Amia is just like her mother? Y’all don’t share a mom?”

“Yeah, we share a mama, but my mama ain’t never been a mama. Shorty got low as soon as she popped a kid off every time. Nothing has ever been important enough for her to slow down, not even her kids.”

I nodded listening to him tell me about his mother. From what he described she was just like Fiona. A female who had kids, but not one ounce of a maternal instinct. That was the last thing I wanted though, to ever be like that when it came to my babies. The rest of our lunch went well, and we spent a bit more time together before he had business to tend to. So, he had me drop him off at Wally’s.

“How are you going to get home?” I peered over at him.

“I’ma have him drop me off. Depends on where you at when I’m finished.” His hand rested comfortably between my thighs while we sat outside of the bar.

“Okay.”

“Where you about to go?”

“Check in on the shop, then most likely home. I’m tired and the food we just ate is adding to that.”

“Then let me know when you get in.” Seconds later his lips were on mine. If I didn’t know any better, he didn’t want to get out of the car. I didn’t want him to get out of it either to be honest, but we were adults and we had to part at some point. Plus we’d be together later on. The clingy bitch in me needed to get a fucking grip.

After I left Zero,I went by the shop to check in, and everything seemed good. I ended up refilling a few bottles of shampoo and conditioner before I left for the rest of the day. Tired was an understatement. I was almost on my way home when my grandmother called me hysterically crying about something that had to do with Fiona. What the hell had this bitch done within the last hour and a half that I’d seen her?” After assuring my grandmother I was on my way, I hopped on the E-way in-route to her.

When I pulled up, Rev was standing in front of the house holding Fiona from going in the gate. There was so much yelling and shit going on that it took me a minute to register what I was seeing. Benson leaned against his car with a bloody nose and Amia trying to nurse him like she was his woman, then Fiona belligerently cursing toward the porch where my grandmother held a cast iron frying pan. Then poor Rev, trying to be the fence that Grandma had prayed so many times that Jesus would be.

“Don’t you come back over here Fiona. You are ungrateful and you don’t give a care about nobody but yo’self.”

“What did you call her for? The hell is she going to do to me?” Fiona lunged toward me.

Had I not just come from a doctor’s appointment I would’ve bucked back at her ass, but today I couldn’t. For the next thirty weeks I couldn’t, and the bitch was safe. I ducked her, before reaching for what I knew would settle her down from my purse.

Within seconds she made contact, and she was too close, so I dropped the taser cover and made my own type of contact. I sent enough voltages through her body that not only did she fall but she was lying on the floor looking like she had a tick.

Then I proceeded to enter the yard past my brother who now had a smirk on his face. What made me turn around was the fact that it sounded like car doors were opening. My eyes immediately settled on my father and his new wife. I guess I should’ve been saying stepmother.

“What the hell is going on here?” he was pissed.

At this point I didn’t have time for my father to be out here playing captain save a ho for my sister. “You cooked, Big Mama?”

“Yeah, baby. You okay?”

“I’m just tired and hungry,” I responded honestly. I had just eaten with Zero, but for some reason as soon as I got here, I felt hungry all over again. Grandma’s house brought back food memories.

“C’mon let me make you a plate so we can chat. Ain’t nothing else out here to deal with. You keep that lil’ thing in your purse all the time?”

I laughed. “Yeah mama, I be having to keep it on me.”

“I want one.”

“Okay Mama I’ll buy you one.” I laughed at the whimsical-like tone she used.
