“I do not.” I snapped. Where the fuck had he gotten that from?
“She trusts you.”
“She won’t if I do that. She won’t trust any of us. You’ll make an enemy of her and there’ll be no going back.” I stated.
“Then I’d collar her.” He shrugged.
“You would be that cruel? You would have her used then turn her into little more than a vassal for the Magi to use?”
“If you won’t do it, what choice will I have?” Uther asked.
“You’re the High King.” I snapped. “You swore an oath to rule this land and oversee it with fairness and good faith. To collar her would go against all you have sworn.”
“But she is not from this world. She is exempt from our laws. Besides you didn’t say that about the other Fae?”
“No, I was wrong then.” I muttered. “I was blinded by grief and anger. I know that now.”
“So you really won’t do it?”
“Not even for you brother.” I replied though I could feel it, the desire for her even now, even in this room.
“You’ve never refused an order before.” Uther stated.
“No.”
“I could have you thrown in the dungeons for disobeying orders.” Uther argued.
“Who then would lead your army?” I smirked. “Besides it would get you no nearer to your end goal.”
“And what’s that?” Uther asked.
“You need Alice not only at full strength and in full control of her powers but you need her loyalty too. Without that you don’t stand a chance.”
Uther looked at me clearly pissed. “Fine. Don’t fuck the girl.” He said downing his drink and pouring another.
I sat swirling my own drink. “There might be another way though.” I said.
“To get her powers?” Uther asked confused.
“No. To get her loyalty.” I stated.
“How?” Uther narrowed his eyes.
“Show her what the Magars are doing.”
“And how do you propose to do that?” Uther asked.
“Seford.”
“What?”
“It’s near enough to get to easily and what better way to show her what’s happening.” I reasoned.
Uther sat back in his chair thinking. “It’s a risk. What if you were attacked and they took her?”
I shrugged. “If we take enough soldiers we should be safe. We brought her here with only twenty men.”
“That was before people knew about her. Now I doubt if any of the Lesser Kings aren’t well aware that I have a Fae.”
