She let out a little sigh. She sounded just as content right now as I felt.

But as I pressed my body into hers I felt a flash of guilt. Should I have told her? Should I have revealed what Uther had asked of me? Gods if I had she would have run for the hills. She would have seen this all as some sort of trick when that was so far from what it was, what I was.

In truth I hadn’t thought of it, at least hadn’t considered the whole ‘half Fae’ shit anyway. It wasn’t my concern. She was.

Her as a person.

Not her as an object to possess.

And now we were here. In my bed.

I could hear her breathing. It was so soft. I could feel the warmth of her skin, as if under all that beauty a fire was burning.

I stroked her hair watching her like a man possessed.

“You don’t regret it do you?” She whispered.

“Why would I?” I asked.

She raised her head to look at me. Lifting her hand to stroke my face. “I don’t.” She murmured. “Not for a second.”

I kissed her temple. “Sleep Little Fae.”

I woke at daybreak. The light was already pouring in through the curtains and I slid my arm out from under Alice before creeping across the room to close them, not wanting the brightness to wake her.

But as I turned I saw her watching me.

“You’re awake.” I said.

“You left me.”

“For a moment.”

She smiled, throwing off the covers and got out.

“It’s too early to get up yet.” I said admiring her curves even in the poor light we were now in.

“I just need to use your bathroom.”

I watched her go, admittedly half leering at her but as I turned to get back into the bed I saw the streaks across the covers.

Blood.

I let out a low breath.

I guess that was all that was left of Uther’s supposed prize. Not that I really cared. As long as it was what Alice wanted, what she’dtrulywanted then that was all I cared about.

I pulled the sheets off, tossing the dirty ones into the corner and quickly set about changing them.

“What are you doing?”

I turned seeing her stood leaning against the doorframe frowning.

“The sheets were dirty. I figured you’d want clean ones.” I said.

She shook her head with a grin. “You think I’m that high maintenance?”
