She gave me a look.
“Shut up. I do not stink of sex.” I protested.
She bit her lip. “Is that what you were doing? Were you tricking me into helping you seduce my commander?”
I gasped and she practically doubled up with laughter.
“You are such a shit.” I muttered.
“Yeah I have to get my fun from somewhere.” She replied as I headed to the bathroom, to run a bath, just like she’d suggested.
Maybe I didn’t stink, but she’d made me paranoid now. Besides a bath sounded pretty damn good.

I slippedinto the hot water, groaning. The only thing that would make this better would be a drink but it was far too early for that.
I ran my hands through the bubbles thinking back to how he’d felt. How he’d made me feel.
I’d slept with Fain. Actually slept with him.
I still felt sore. Parts of me that I didn’t even know existed hurt in a way that was both uncomfortable and satisfying all at the same time.
His prize was gone.
I’ll admit I got a good bit of satisfaction from that. As if I had outsmarted Uther. As if I had somehow beaten him but on my terms. My way.
That hadn’t been my motivation. That hadn’t been where my head was at when I’d made my way to Fain’s rooms. No, I’d wanted him despite it. Despite the fact that his brother owned me, despite the fact that his brother was acting like my virginity was something he could possess too.
I leant back before gasping as I caught sight of my body in the mirror.
My neck bore the signs of where his mouth had been, my nipples were marked from where he’d bitten them and as I looked down through the water I could see where his fingers had dug into my thighs.
I smiled to myself, liking the fact that there was evidence. Part of me wanted to show them off, to show what he’d done but that was madness. Scandalous too.
Get it together.I half hissed at myself.
What we’d done, what we were, was between us. No one else had a right to know.
A knock at the door made me jump, causing water to splash all over the side. I quickly pulled my hair across to cover the worst of the marks down my neck.
“Come in.”
Mira popped her head around the door smiling. But it was a tight smile.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
“There’s a guard. The High King has summoned you.”
I frowned. It could be nothing. It could well be just a coincidence. Fain had told me the council was meeting so it could be to do with that.
And yet it felt off. Something, some feeling inside me was twisting with worry though why I didn’t know.
“Give me a minute.” I murmured.
She disappeared, no doubt to pull something appropriate for me to wear and I got out, wrapping a towel tightly around myself, trying to ignore the sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach.
