My eyes instinctively dropped to watch her, to take her in as she slowly revealed herself.

“Like what you see?” She teased.

I tilted my head, nodding. “I always like what I see with you.”

She shook her head laying back, widening her legs enough to give me a good look at her. “Shame you can’t do anything about it?”

“Excuse me?”

She let out a laugh as her hand moved between her thighs.

“That’s your punishment. You can look now but you can’t touch.”

I let out a laugh but as I did she changed. She transformed. No longer was her hair brown. No longer was her skin tanned.

As I blinked she became paler. Fairer. Her eyes now green and not blue.

“What’s the matter Fain?” She whispered. Only it wasn’t Elynn’s voice. It was the Fae girl’s.

I shook my head, not understanding it.

She leant back, spreading her legs wider. All but inviting me.

And like a man possessed, like a beast took over me, I pounced on her, snarling, clawing, burying myself in her as my hand wrapped around her throat.

“Fuck.”

I yelled it as I all but fell off the couch. I could feel my shirt sticking to my back. I could feel my heart pumping in my chest.

What the hell was that?I gulped as my skin tingled, as some lingering whisper of her clung to my mind.

The fire had gone out. The room was dark.

I sat on the rug trying not to think about it. Trying not to consider it.

Clearly I was stressed. Clearly this whole Fae business had stayed in my head.

I got up, poured myself a drink and downed it.

My hands shook. My hands never shook and yet as I watched them I could see it, the movement was there.

I shut my eyes trying to steady myself. I needed a break. I needed a distraction, I needed anything to take my mind off that damned girl.

I walked into the bar.Even at this time of night the Courtyard was still busy but I spotted her sat in the corner. She smiled when she realised I was watching her, made an excuse, and left the soldiers she was with.

“Prince Fain.” She said almost demurely as she slipped beside me.

“Hello Chelsi.” I murmured running my eyes over her.

“Want to go somewhere quiet?” She asked like I wouldn’t. Like that wasn’t what our every encounter was about.

I followed her down the corridors. For months we’d been doing this. No strings attached. No emotions. Just sex.

And tonight that’s what I wanted more than anything. Something to clear my head.

She was on me as soon as the door shut. I grabbed her, kissing her back before she slipped to her knees grinning.
