Someone is coming.

The question is, do they know we’re here? Do they know what we’re up to? And how much of a bloodbath is this about to turn into?

The men outside are smart enough to act like they belong. They do nothing to spook the vehicle as it comes to a stop.

And Koen is careful to remain out of sight because we all know his face well enough to give the game away.

When we hear the engine die shouts ring out. A few gunshots are fired but it’s clear whoever is there is quickly disarmed.

I finish placing the bomb, set the detonator, and rush round to see whoever the fuck is here.

But as my eyes land on his I freeze.

He stares back at me wide eyed, as if he can’t register who I am. As if he’s forgotten my face. As if.

“Ignatio Capulet.” I murmur.

Well, well, this evening has turned out even better than I imagined.

“You’re, you’re….” He splutters, fighting against the two men that are holding him in place, on his knees.

“Dead?” I finish the sentence for him with a smirk. “Not as dead as you’d like to believe.”

He shakes his head. “No, you died. Darius…”

“Lied.” I snap. “He pretended I was dead and you let him have Rose.”

He gulps, his eyes darting as if he can work out some escape, only there is none. No mercy, no escape, no nothing but me and him.

“Get him up.” I order. “Tie him up. We’re taking him back with us.”

The men do as I ask without question but Koen stalks up to me and for a minute I think he might argue.

I raise an eyebrow challenging him and he places his hand on my shoulder as if we’re comrades and I guess in a way we are now.

“See what he knows before you kill him.” He says quietly.

I grin back. “Oh don’t worry about that. I’m not going to kill him. I’m going to make sure he lives, that every minute he’s with us he pays for this, and for Rose, and for everything they’ve done to this city.”

Koen grunts back and walks away to continue pouring more gasoline.

And as I stand back and watch the entire thing go up in flames I can’t help but smile.

Not just because this is destroyed but with Ignatio in my possession I can finally get a piece of revenge, a piece that I desperately, deliriously need.

There’s a storm coming.

I can feel it in the air. I can feel the way everything is teetering on the edge, like the very heavens are about to open.

It feels like the world is celebrating my victory. That God himself is lauding my achievements. I’m an avenging angel once more.

And this time I know exactly who I’m taking my wrath out on.

Rose

The flash of lightning wakes me from sleep.
