I want to retort. I want to say exactly where they can both stick it but I know it will push Darius too far. So instead I let my fear take over, I recoil into myself, hoping that whatever sacrifices I end up making tonight I can live with them in the morning.

Otto snaps his fingers, just like Darius did and a waitress comes running. He mutters to her and she nods before disappearing off.

“The usual?” Darius says.

Otto shrugs.

I stare at Sofia. She’s got her eyes shut now, like she knows what’s coming and she’s trying to brace herself for it.

I whisper her name but she doesn’t respond. It’s like she’s shut down. Like she’s mentally somewhere else entirely. Christ what has he done to her? How has she become this shell of a person?

The waitress comes back, holding a silver tray. On it I can see the drink but I see something else too.

I whip my head staring back at Darius. “What the fuck is that?” I snarl.

He chuckles. “Just watch…”

I fight him then, I fight his hold, trying to stop this.

But Otto is already picking up the syringe, taking Sofia’s arm and she’s not even putting up a fight. Like she knows how futile it is to even try.

“He’s drugging her.” I scream.

Otto looks back at me, jabs the syringe into her skin and she hisses then. That’s all the response she makes.

And then he’s pushing the end, shoving that clear liquid into her vein.

“Don’t be a party pooper.” Darius murmurs.

I kick harder and he wraps his arm in a headlock around my head. “Enough.” He says.

Everyone’s looking, everyone is watching the Governor now and seeing how he controls me. I can see the smirks on their faces. Can hear the laughter too.

“He’s drugging her.” I state again.

“It’s just GHB.” Darius says. “It loosens her up, just watch.”

I don’t want to. I don’t want to witness what it does.

Otto sips his drink clearly waiting for whatever length of time it needs to take effect.

And all too soon, he’s putting his empty glass down, pulling Sofia around so that she’s now facing him and he’s undoing her dress, stripping her for everyone to see.

“No.” I shout.

Darius growls clearly getting my annoyed by my lack of obedience. “Maybe we should give you some.” He threatens.

I shake my head so quickly in response. I’m being a coward now. I know I am, but whatever it is, whatever it does, I don’t want any part of it.

Otto carries Sofia, lays her on a padded bench and all the men start swarming around. He looks at me, holds my gaze, and spreads her legs.

“You fucking bastard.” I shout.

Darius hits me then. Hard against the side of my head. I see stars for a minute, something screams in my ears and I can’t tell if it’s my voice or just my brain taking the impact.

“Have you forgotten yourself?” He says. “Have you forgotten what this is?”

“I won’t sit by and…”
