Page 103 of Downfall

Regret, anger, bitter, festering disappointment racks through me.

Once again I’m a failure.

“Rose.”

I let out a huff.

“I said you’re wanted.” Ty snaps.

I turn meeting his gaze with a glare. “Fine.”

His steps back towards the car and I shake my head. “I have my own.”

“Leave it.”

“No.”

He raises an eyebrow giving me that arsehole look of his.

“Bella is in it. I’m not just leaving her.” I state.

“Fine then. I’ll see you at the house.” He snaps.

I narrow my eyes wanting to tell him to stick it. Wanting to scream. To wail. To completely and utterly lose myself to my despair but the three figures are gone. Whether they saw me, whether they knew, I don’t know but it’s too late.

It’s all too fucking late.

I shake my head storming back to my car. Bella is still asleep but I’m quick to get the engine running, quick to get the aircon on and to drop the temperature. It was cruel to leave her like that. Cruel and unnecessary as it turned out.

Because once again, the odds were not in my favour.

Once again I risked it all for nothing.

“What took you so long?”My mother hisses barely letting me get out of the car.

“I was busy.” I say.

She huffs and then huffs more as I pick Bella up and carry her out.

She snaps her fingers for one of the maids and they half snatch her from my arms and carry her off.

“What is going on?” I ask.

She shakes her head pulling me inside. “We have a lot to discuss.”

“If it’s about me marrying some arsehole…” My words die as my father stands arms crossed glaring at me.

I gulp feeling like a child again.

He drops his gaze, giving me a once over like he’s disgusted and then turns obviously expecting me and my mother to just follow in his wake.

When we walk into his study I’m surprised to see no one else there. Not even Ty.

“What is this?” I ask.

“There has been an incident.” My father replies.
