Arkady.

Madison is on the boat as well. I don’t see very well in the dark, but it looks like he’s tied her up. Cords are not that hard to find around here. It makes things easier for him.

So Arkady means to escape by sea. I have to stop him at all costs. But doing so, all by myself, with Madison in my line of fire, is no easy task.

I pull out my phone again. The GPS tracker in Ted’s app gives me the position of the three men. Thankfully, two of them are moving toward me. Ted and Ken.

That’s when I decide to take a gamble. I step out from where I was hiding. I need to make sure Arkady doesn’t leave. I need to stall him until the others arrive and help neutralize him.

Standing, I point my gun at him. He looks up and notices me. There’s evil in his eyes. He smirks at me.

“Still around? Tough bitch!” He’s amused.

“Let her go, Arkady. You have no chance to run.”

“Really? And who’s going to hold me back? You and your weapon?”

He turns a key on the dashboard, and the engine comes to life.

Come on, Ken! Where are you?

I hesitate to shoot at the boat. I could damage the engine or even the hull. But I could also injure Madison while doing that.

And now Arkady grabs Ken’s sister by the waist and pulls her against him. He unties the two ropes and puts the engine into gear.

He smiles at me and says, “Bye bye, brigadier Cossa!”
