Me: So, uh. Stone invited us to a biker party Saturday.
Me: I said yes.
Fuck me. This isn’t going to end well.
Chapter Twenty-Six
Cash DeMarco
“This is cute, Cash!”
“Thanks. It’s not bad for me never seeing it before I moved in.”
Kylie just flew in and we’re getting back from the airport now. It’s late, almost ten at night. Her flight got delayed from Dallas to here; she was supposed to be here two hours ago.
“Want anything to drink?” I ask her, walking into the kitchen.
“Sure. Are wedrinking… or do you mean like water?” She laughs.
I can’t help the smile that pulls on my face. It’s fucking good having her here. “You tell me, Ky.”
“Hmm. Let’s drink so you can tell me all about Dean Hottie.”
I throw my head back, laughing, before grabbing the vodka from the freezer and two shot glasses. “There isn’t much to tell, Ky.”
“Bullshit. You sent that vague text yesterday about a party this weekend and then refused to answer any of my questions.”
“Fine,” I grumble, shoving a full shot glass toward her. “But I need to be less sober for this. Cheers!”
I toss the berry flavored vodka back, wincing slightly at the burning warmth that trails from my throat all the way down to my stomach. Immediately after, I pour us another round, shoving hers across the counter before throwing another back.
“Ask away.” I pour us each a third shot for good measure, before twisting the cap back on.
“Okay so… Saturday. We’re going to a biker party with him?”
“Notwithhim, but he invited us, yes. We don’t have to go if you don’t want to.”
“No, I definitely want to. I’m surprised, that’s all.” She’s trying, but failing, to hide the smirk on her face. “Are you guys talking regularly now or what?”
Groaning, I rub my hands down my face. She’s going to get a kick out of this. “He actually took my phone number yesterday after he asked me so he can text me the details.”
“And?”
“And he texted me today, but I haven’t responded yet.” I bring the shot glass to my lips, emptying the contents into my mouth, and hoping like hell this is the one that brings me to tipsy.
“Cash! What did it say?” She downs her shot too, slamming the empty glass down on the counter.
“You know… he’s excited for us to come, and he told me where it was at.”
“And you guys haven’t spoken today? In person?”
“Nah, I had back-to-back classes. Plus, we don’t always see each other during the workday.”
“Damn. Well, this weekend should be interesting. I can’t wait to meet him.” She wiggles her brows suggestively, and I roll my eyes, laughing.
“C’mon. Let’s watch some TV before I have to go to bed.”
