“In three-hundred feet your destination will be on your right,” the GPS interrupted. Truthfully, I was relieved for her butting-in.
“Where should I park?” Zane turned on his turn signal and slowed down.
"You can park in my spot. It's number five," I pointed to the empty spot.
"Don't drive?" Zane asked, pulling into the spot.
"I do. My car is at work."
"Oh," he whispered and placed his car in park. He turned in his seat. "I really am sorry for how I went about yesterday."
"You mean the creepy, stalker date way?" I teased. He rolled his eyes then laughed.
"I swear, never in my life have I done anything so fucking creepy." He let out a heavy sigh, leaned his head back against his seat, and closed his eyes. "Sofucking creepy."
"Thought we were past all that?" I squeezed his hand gently.
"Yeah. I know. I'm just still shocked. It isn't my style at all." He opened his eyes and looked at me. "I'm just glad you gave me a chance to redeem myself."
"I'm surprised I gave you a chance to." I leaned my head against my headrest.
"Why did you?" He looked me in the eyes. The world felt like it came to a stop. Everything around us faded and all I saw was him.
My heart raced as I stared at him The fluttering butterfly feeling returned in the pit of my stomach. With my free hand, I nervously played with the hem of my shirt. The man had the power to melt me like butter and turn me into a sap.
"I can't really explain it. Even if I tried, I doubt my words would come out coherent," I shrugged. It was the truth. The way I felt towards him was unexplainable and emotionally scary.
"Can you try anyway? I'll attempt to decode it?" He gave me a boyish grin, making me laugh.
"You just want to see me turn red like a tomato." My eyebrow rose. "Am I right?"
"Maybe," he laughed then shook his head. "No. In all seriousness, I'm curious as to how I got so lucky for a second chance."
