Page 6 of Just My Luck

My sister was relentless when it came to getting her way. She was always harping on me about settling down. And at least once a week, she was trying to hook me up with a friend of a friend.

“Better hurry before your sister busts a move,” Calleb laughed.

“Yeah. Yeah. I’m hurrying,” I groaned as I lifted my glass to my lips.

Gonna need some liquid courage,I thought as I downed my whiskey.

“I’ll be back,” I said, standing up.

“Better not come back over here,” Genevieve giggled. “Have a good night, little bro.”

The tone in her voice made me cringe. Some things just weren’t meant to be said out loud between siblings. Liker her and Calleb’s sex life. That was a forbidden topic despite her trying to be open about it.

“Ugh. You’re so cringy.” At the speed of light, I made my way away from the table and over to Elain and them. The entire table stopped talking when I walked up.

“Everything okay, Boss?” Mallory grinned.

“Yeah. Everything is fine. Just thought I’d check in to see how everyone is enjoying the party,” I smiled. Mallory gave me a knowing look but said nothing.

“We’re having an awesome time!” a guy slurred, holding up his mug of green beer in the air. Two other men followed suit with their mugs and cheered.

“Sláinte!” they toasted in Irish then chugged their beer.

“Glad you’re all having fun,” I stated, looking down at Elaina. “And what about you? How are you doing?”

“I’m okay,” she smiled.

I glanced at her mug. It was still full.

“Want me to get you something else?” I pointed at her mug.

“No. It’s okay,” she shook her head. “I don’t want to inconvenience you.”

Her words made me chuckle. The fact that she thought me getting her a new drink would be trouble was cute.

“Would you like to come to the bar with me? Or prefer me to grab it and bring it over here?” I asked.

Mallory nudged Elaina and gestured for her to go with me. Elaina looked at the guys sitting at the table. They were too busy laughing and slamming back shots like college kids. Elaina rolled her eyes at them then stood up.

“A trip to the bar sounds nice,” she smiled. I offered my arm to her and she looped her arm around mine timidly. “I’ll be back.”

“Please, don’t!” Mallory smirked. “No curfew tonight.”

“Ugh. Please get me out of here,” Elaina whispered. I leaned down to her ear.

“I got you, Beautiful,” I said softly. She trembled and stared up at me with rosy cheeks. She bit her bottom lip nervously. She looked innocent and sexy all in one breath.

My heart raced, my lungs tightened, and my cock demanded to be freed as I stared down into Elaina’s eyes. Never had a woman had such a pull on me. Not in my thirty-three years of life.

“You two going to just stare at each other like aHallmarkmovie?” Mallory’s voice cut into my thoughts, making me chuckle

“This way,” I said, guiding Elaina over to the bar.

The bartender, Kipp, walked over to us wearing his traditional Irish outfit. His eyes fell on Elaina. He stared at her for several seconds, which annoyed the shit out of me. Anyone with eyes knew she was sexy but that didn’t mean he had the right to eye fuck her.

“Kipp,” I growled.

“Hey, Max,” he stated still looking at Elaina.
