"Kiss?”

It comes out like a question.

Of course, I have the answer.

I press my lips to his gently, making sure to not turn this into anything more than what it is. A gentle kiss goodnight for my sweet little one. Later, we can talk about anything else that might come.

But for now, this is enough.

CHAPTER 7

Foster

I'm not sure what I did to earn time with a man like Duval, but I'm thankful for it because he's utterly amazing.

Yesterday felt like a dream.

Everything aligned so perfectly that I didn't know whether to thank my lucky stars or consider this some elaborate dream.

Again, it wasn't, but it felt like one.

Breakfast is an easy thing because when I wake up, he's there smiling at me. He presses a kiss to my forehead before gently easing me up and into the bathroom. He leaves me there while I take care of business and wash up.

When he comes back, I see he went to pull clothes out for me to wear. He also tells me he ordered us some food for breakfast.

And what a relief that is.

I haven't had to make a single decision. Not really.

Sure, he let me lead him to the food and he had me choose what I wanted, but I didn't have to voice anything.

On a normal day, I've made a hundred decisions before the sun is even up. All of them so important that people's livelihoods depend on them. I spend hours at my desk or in a boardroom, only to go home and immediately lay down to ease my sore back.

This has been a relief to say the least.

At least it's a relief until my phone starts to ring.

DD looks over at me. “It's okay. You can answer it.”

I bite my lip, then hit the button to accept the group call. I don't realize it's a video call until their faces pop up on the screen. I jolt, which causes a DD to lean over to look.

When he sees my friends there, he chuckles and waves. Their eyes go wide.

Richie giggles and hides behind the stuffed giraffe in his hand. Lief being the most clueless, leans closer to the camera.

“Where did you find him? Can you ship me one? I would pay extra fees for a Daddy like that.”

I shake my head but can't suppress a smile.

“I don't think I can ship you one. Besides, I found him on the plane,” I say, my big side coming out enough to talk to my friends.

They would worry if I kept silent, and I'm not in the mood to be interrogated for hours on end.

Lief nods. “Yeah, that figures.”

Zion jumps in to ask, “Are you safe? Blink twice if you need help.”

Richie snorts, then stage whispers, “He's really handsome. Congratulations.”
